This paper presents the Adam Mickiewicz University's (AMU) submissions to the WMT 2021 News Translation Task. The submissions focus on the English↔Hausa translation directions, which is a low-resource translation scenario between distant languages. O ur approach involves thorough data cleaning, transfer learning using a high-resource language pair, iterative training, and utilization of monolingual data via back-translation. We experiment with NMT and PB-SMT approaches alike, using the base Transformer architecture for all of the NMT models while utilizing PB-SMT systems as comparable baseline solutions.
This study aimed to identify the degree of management practice values in the Faculty of Physical Education in Tishreen University from the point of view of the members of the teaching staff. It also aimed to find out the significance of differences b etween the mean scores of the evaluations of the members of the teaching staff in the Faculty of Physical Education in Tishreen University to practice for management by values at level(α ≤ 0.05), which are attributed to the study variables (gender, academic grade). For achieving the study aims, the researchers used the descriptive approach in the survey method, Where the study population consists of faculty members in the Faculty of Physical Education in Tishreen University and their number (24) member, while the sample of the study amounted to (20) members. Among the most important results is that the degree of practicing management by values ​​in the Faculty of Physical Education from the viewpoint of faculty members is located at the intermediate level. The statistical data was processed by using the statistical program (SPSS).
Abstract Universities are considered the most important institutions that affect individuals and are affected by them. The three main functions of the university are education, scientific research and community service. Hence, it is necessary to emp hasize the role of faculties of Physical Education as part of the university in the preparation and refinement of the skills and experiences of students including qualifying them professionally and giving them the necessary practical experience. The present age is the age of knowledge explosion. It is noted nowadays that there is a lack of interest in knowing the role of faculties of physical education in society. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the role of the faculties of Physical Education and the relevance of their outputs that can be seen in the large number of graduates to the latest advances of our age and cognitive development. Every improvement of the faculty is accompanied by a change in matching students in the future with business requirements. Hence, the researcher believes that it is necessary to consider the effectiveness of the role of faculties of physical education in the preparation of students and the development of their expertise and skills in light of the latest developments and in accordance with the requirements of working life. The researcher designed a questionnaire according to the scientific steps of its outline as a tool for research. The questionnaire was distributed to students of the Faculty of Physical Education in the governorate of Lattakia and Hama. The calculation of the final grades of each paragraph was then presented. At the end of the research, several conclusions and recommendations were reached: The educational, psychological, administrative, and professional factors (which have been mentioned) inside and outside colleges are some of the reasons that are responsible for weakening the role of colleges and their ability to influence students and prepare them to be proficient in the fields of their work and specialization in addition to the decline of motivation and desire of students to pursue the study. The needs for colleges to understand the need to make a change in their method of flooding the labor market with graduates without paying attention to the needs of this market and the needs of the community. Rather, they must build graduates who have ‘’global” characteristics that enable them to work and engage in any area according to the needs of society and the requirements of the labor market.
Background: smoking is the major cause of many chronic diseases and a growing public health problem in the world. - Aim: the aim of this study is to determine prevalence of smoking habit and associated factors among students of Al-Andalus universi ty of medical science. - Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted from October academic year 2017 to March academic year 2018 on 300 students in Al- andalus Medical University. A systematic stratified sampling method was used. Data collected by self-administrated questionnaire. - Results: out of the 300 respondents, 166 students were smokers giving a prevalence rate of 55%.The prevalence of smokers were much higher in males than females (79.5% and 20.5%, respectively). 72.2% of students started smoking at the age of less than 20 years. There were a significance differences between faculties (P= 0.02) , which faculty of medicine reported high percentage. - Conclusions: This study directs the attention to the fact that problem of smoking among university students has important contributing personal and socio demographic factors. The study recommends integrating health awareness programmes about smoking hazards in the medical education curriculum.
this study aims Specifying the level of adjusting with university life among the students of the University of Al-Furat hosted at Tishreen University after leaving their mother university due to the current security conditions experienced by Syria through some variables such as gender , study specialization and place of residence. In order to answer the study questions and verify their hypotheses, the researcher applied a measure of adjusting with university life on a sample of the students of the University of Al-Furat who were hosted at Tishreen University. The number of students in the sample (332) , The results of the study showed the following: The social adjusting came in first place and the psychological adjusting In the second place and the academicadjusting in the third place, and there are differences of statistical significance in the axis of psychological adjusting according to gender variable and these differences in favor of females, while there were no differences in the axes of social and academic adjusting according to gender variable, and the research there are differences of statistical significance in the axis of social adjusting The differences were found in favor of the humanitarian faculties, while there were no differences in the pivotal psychological and academic adjusting. There were also statistically significant differences in the level of psychological adjusting between the students according to the variable of the place of residence, The differences were found in favor Of those( who live in the houses with the family),There is relationship statistically significant correlation betweenaxes The adjusting with university life and variables(gender, academic specialization, the place stay). This study offered some propositions.
This study aimed at investigating future anxiety and its relationship with the psychological stress on a sample of Tishreen University students. Furthermore, the study attempted to explore whether students differ according to their gender in the fu ture anxiety and the psychological stress. The sample comprised of (188) students: (95 male and 93 female). In order to achieve the goals of this study the Inventory of University Students’ Anxiety Future was constructed. The final version of the scale consisted of (28) items. And the Inventory of University Students’ Sources of psychological stress was constructed, the final version of the scale consisted of (60) items. The results showed: there are correlation statistically significant between the future anxiety and the psychological stress. The results also indicated to significant differences (α≤ 0.05) between males and females means in the psychological stress, and its indicated to no differences between males and females in the future anxiety.
This study aims at identifying the extent to which the postgraduate students in the Faculty of Computer Engineering at the University of Damascus possess the skills of using the computer by measuring their ability in using the computer according to the following fields: (Computer skills, computer skills, operating system skills, skills of using ready software, and skills of using the information network and the Internet). A special questionnaire was constructed to achieve the objectives of the study and presented to a group of competent arbitrators with the expertise to verify its validity and consistency. , Where the stability coefficient (0.94) was also used, and the Statistical Package Program (SPSS) was used to analyze the data Finally, the study led to a number of results which, in turn, led to some suggestions that could benefit computer workers, professionals and specialists in college, university and society.
The aim of this study is to investigate the level of selfefficacy and the type of goal orientation at college student's and the relationship between the goal orientation and self – efficacy beliefs. Data was gathered through the scales" self-effi cacy scales, and goal orientation scale " from (162) random sample of male and female student's of education college student's.
This study aimed at investigating the relationship between psychological support and religious values among the adolescents in the preparatory year at the Muslim University in Al-Madīnah Al-Munawwarah. The study employed the descriptive analytical method, and the researcher developed the study instruments that consisted of two scales; the psychological support scale, which consisted of (41) items distributed to four domains: (emotional support, morale cognitive support, recognition and status support, as well as social support); and the religious values scale which consisted of (53) items distributed to three domains: (ideological values, worship values, as well as moral values). The validity and reliability of study instruments were verified. The study sample consisted of (192) preparatory-year students studying at the Muslim University in Al-Madīnah Al- Munawwarah. The results showed that the level of psychological support, with its domains, was of a high degree, with a mean that ranged between (3.75 - 4.06), and it was ranked as follows; (cognitive morale support , recognition and status support, social support, and emotional support). The mean of psychological support in total was (3.91) . The level of religious values was also of a high degree, with a mean that ranged between (3.64 - 4.44), in the following order (ideological values, worship values, and finally moral values), and the mean of the religious values in total was (3.92). The results showed that there is a statistically significant positive relationship between the psychological support and the religious values.
This study aimed at identifying the perceptions of university postgraduate students with regard to the factorial structure related to the perceived professional competencies for the educational counselor. The researcher employed the descriptive corre lation method, and the instrument was developed so as to measure the professional competencies for the educational counselor; the content validity as well as the reliability for the instrument were verified. The study sample consisted of (175) male and female students from the students of postgraduate studies at Mu'tah University and Students for in Israa Private university.
