This research aims to identify the reality of food security in Syria between the years 2006- 2010. The most important crops in Syria are grain crops, occupying 64.18% of the area of cultivated land. Wheat is the most important grain; it had product ion growth rate of 2.24% between the years 2000- 2010. This is higher than wheat production growth rate not only in the Arab world but in the whole world. This production rate allowed Syria to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat 119.4%, potatoes 110.5%, legumes 168%, fruits 102.7, vegetables 146.9%, in addition to other products. The average per capita in Syria is 345.16 kg of grain per person which is greater than that in the Arab world by 36.17 kg. The value of food gap in Syria increased from 42.5 million dollars in 2006 to 1412.23 million dollars in 2010. This was due to the increase of grain food gap which reached 976.32 million dollars. It was still, however, within reasonable limits. The indicators of access to food in Syria were positive as the index of average individual share of local production per capita was higher than the index of food prices in 2007, 2008, and 2010. The true growth of individual share of local products per capita was positive in 2006 reaching 9.18%, but it shrank to 3.7% in 2010.
The research aims to identify the reality of food in Syria during the 2011-2012 period and compared to the situation before the crisis (2008-2010). The study showed that the total cultivated area in Syria during the crisis amounted to about 4479 th ousand hectares, and the total lack of 323 thousand hectares from the pre-crisis period, as well as the decreasing size of the vegetation of agricultural production during the same period increased by 3081.2 thousand tons to score 11021.5 thousand tons, However, the availability of vegetarian food and animal size increased overall during the period of crisis by 923.7 thousand tons to score 18704.1 thousand tons, With regard to per capita food shortage has been during the crisis period by 8 kg to score 864.8 kg while it was before the crisis 872.8 kg, With regard to the value of the food gap turned out to be increased during the crisis by 640.5 million dollars to up to 1727.2 million dollars,. And finally the study showed that the demand for food will increase in Syria during the period 2016-2020, as will 22832.5 thousand tons in 2020, so the size of the domestic production of Syria, to be achieved in 2020 will be 18170.8 thousand tons.
This study aimed to analyze the role of a statement and marketing information systems in the production of efficient and effective marketing information necessary to meet the administrative needs of the rationalization of administrative decisions i n agricultural facilities in the Syrian coast. To achieve the objectives of the study and answer its questions, we relied on data relevant to the literature and previous relevant studies related to the collection, and the operational framework we have adopted in the preparation of a questionnaire designed for this purpose, and the researcher to conduct the necessary analysis and test hypotheses, and arrive at a set of findings and recommendations:  The existence of some aspects of the decline in the development of effective evidence to identify ways to prove and information processing, which requires management attention to providing the necessary ingredients for the operation of the marketing information system efficiently and effectively.  Low effective use of marketing information systems in the planning and translate the goals and policy-making facilities, which calls for the need for attention to providing the necessary planning and control of information and decision-making governance.  decline in conducting the necessary analysis of the components of the surrounding environment, which affects the quality of decisions taken, and it requires attention to factors surrounding the facility in the preparation and development of marketing information systems, so as to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems.  The study showed that there is limited attention by agricultural enterprises for the construction of marketing information systems.
This research was done at Syrian coast (Lattakia and Tartous) where the research information were gather from 4 distributor area in (Tartous, Banias, Jableh, Kerdaha) during the period 2011-2012. (20) areas were choosed and Questionnaire was used w ith personality interview form for tomato farmers. The results signed to presence very strong correlation (r = 0.968) between production as dependent variable (y) and planted area at Syrian coast level as independent variable (x), whereas correlation was average (r = 0.620) between productivity as as dependent variable (y) and area as independent variable (x). The results also signed that (72.98%) of producing protectorate tomato was being marketed to wholesale market, whereas (22.07%) of production was being marketed to tomato past factories, (4.95%) was being marketed to processor factories for exterior export.
This study has been conducted on Syrian coastal area in 2013 season, aimed to determines affecting factors on honey supply at that level Apiary and measure the price supply elasticity . A field questioner was applied to obtain elementary data of a random sample consisted of (304) of Apiary. The honey production has been estimated to (10.3) kg/hive and (603.8) kg/ apiary in the study sample, (89.6%) of which were marketed, while the other part has been selfconsumed at the apiary level. The marketing quantities of honey distributed between five major marketing canals, the most important one was the direct selling to the consumers, contributed to (77.1%) of total sample’ marketed quantities, followed by the selling to wholesalers with contribution ratio estimated to (18.7%), while the selling to retailer types (Honey specialized shops, Pharmacies, Grocers) have absorbed the remained small honey quantities. The supply price elasticity was estimated to (2.318), referring relatively to a high elasticity supply. The more diversified marketing channels of honey at apiaries level has positively affected supply quantities, especially when selling to wholesalers. Moreover, the existence of selling and storing unites in apiaries in addition to the market information system would also affect positively on supply quantities. The positively effect of apiary size reflects the weak position of small size apiaries in supply controlling. The more important result, was the negative impact of expertize and specialization and education of producers on honey supplied quantities at apiaries level, Remunerating Precarious conditions of current honey market, pressing on producers belonging to the qualified category and indicates high risks of shrinking their leverage in honey sub-sector.
The research aims to study the economic efficiency of olive mill wastewater (OMWW) use in fertilizing olive trees, Which included research sample / 294 / farmer in Lattakia Governorate, depending on the descriptive analytical method,And found the results to be to fertilize the olive trees with (OMWW) rents high productivity, Where it posted a net profit of (33,668) SP / acre / year, while gross margin stood at (61 235) SP , The coefficient of profitability compared to the cost of production (about 41.32%)%, while the profitability coefficient was compared to the capital invested approximately 42.98%.
This study has been conducted on Syrian coastal area in 2013 season, aimed to analyze the cost of honey production and Farm income `at the Apiaries level, in addition to measure its net returns and economic efficiency. A field questioner was applie d to obtain elementary data of a random sample consisted of (304) of Apiary units. The results show that beekeeping is one of the economically viable agricultural projects, where most of the apiaries in the sample were able to achieve a positive net return as much, on average, about (405 834) SP / promiscuous, while its value was estimated at the hive level by about (7120) SP. It was found that the majority of apiaries in the study sample (87.8%) were able to achieve positive earnings, While the ratio (12.2%) exposed of the loss, and realized negative revenues . The results of the investment evaluation and financial analysis showed to the economic efficiency of the apiaries , reaching gross margin of the hive (11237.5) SP/year, and ratio of costs to revenue (62.9%), the profit ratio to total costs (59%), and general economic efficiency (1.59 ), and the Payback period (1.69) years.
