This study aimed to extract the psychometric characteristics of the Statistical Anxiety Scale when applied to a sample of graduate students the Faculty of Education, Tishreen University, to ensure the ability to using the statistical anxiety scale to diagnose postgraduate students' statistical anxiety reliability. Statistical anxiety scale (which was translated by into Arabic Abou Hashem, 2002) has been applied on a sample of research postgraduate students in the courses phase and in the dissertation phase in the Faculty of Education at the Tishreen University. The study results indicate a high significant internal consistency and statistically significant of the scale items, the scale also enjoyed a high degree of reliability. The items that to cause concern were extracted from the sample, and were arranged according to the level of concern caused by calculating the specific weight of each item. It was verified of a set of hypotheses that confirmed the scale validity and reliability.
The present research was designed to investigate the factor structure of Shkeer's psychological security scale (2005), by using the exploratory factor analysis. the psychological security scale of shkeer consists of four dimensions: (individual bu ilding and future vision (14 items), general and practice life (18 items), temperament (10 items), social relationships and social interaction (12 items). The researcher used the descriptive method, and the research sample was chosen randomly, while the data were collected from (415) students of Tishreen University. The research revealed that the psychological security consists of six factors, which had explained (52.91%) of total variance of items: The first factor: future vision and includes 14 items. The second factor: social relationships and includes 7 items. The third factor: temperament and includes 7 items. The fourth factor: practice life and includes 5 items. The fifth factor: general life and includes 5 items. The sixth factor: social interaction and includes 4 items. The researcher suggests that more studies should be done to investigate the factor structure of the psychological security scale on different Syrian samples.and proposes to study the relationship between psychological security and some variables.
This study aimed at identifying the impact of information technology use on the student's performance amongst Tishreen University faculties, and identifying which factors relate to information technology use have contributed to the differences and variations in student's performance. Consequently, developing a mathematical model for classifying students' performance using discriminant analysis. The most important findings of this research are: There is a significant classification impact of the availability of the following factors: sources and scientific references, computing laboratories, the Internet, computing curriculum, tutors followed training courses in student's performance classification. The findings showed that there is no significant classification impact of the following two factors: foreign language proficiency and the availability of data show facilities on the student's performance classification. In addition, three discriminant functions are obtained which reflect student's performance. Furthermore, the developed model classified studied sample members correctly with 70.2%, which reflect a significant impact of the developed model on classifying student's performance.
This study aims to extract the psychometric properties of the adult edition of Toulouse self-esteem scale. The scale was translated from French to Arabic and it was introduced to a set of Arabic language specialists to ensure good paraphrasing, and then it was re-translated to the original language (French) to ensure the accuracy of the translation. The Scale was implemented on a random sample consisting of 500 adults in Latakia city. The study results indicate a high level of validity of the scale and high degree scale of reliability identical with the statistical indicators to of the French version of the scale. Subsequently a series of hypotheses was tested which showed that there was no difference between male and female means degrees on the scale except the social self field. Also, it was found that there are statistical differences by educational level of respondents in favor of postgraduate and graduate degrees. The differences on scale dimensions according to the taxonomic variables (gender and educational level) were studied too. The research suggested further studies on the scale in different environments and the necessity to be used in educational and psychological fields.
The aim of current research is to measuring the environmental awareness of Tishreen University students, by using the "Environmental Awareness Scale" which had been prepared by "Schahn" in its amended third form (1999) after being standardized on t he Syrian environment. The research aimed to identify the differences in the degrees of environmental awareness among members of the research sample according to each of the following variables: Faculty type (theoretical-practical), gender (males-females), and the academic year. This research was conducted on a sample of (850) students (males-females) in the University of Tishreen to extract the psychometric properties of the scale and to check the significance of validity and reliability. The researchers used arbitrators' sincerity, honesty, and internal consistency to verify the veracity of scale's statements. Reliability was verified through consistency and repeated reliability, by using Cronbach's Alpha equation by split-half. The results found out that the values of honesty and reliability coefficients were high and statistically significant and demonstrated the validity of the scale. It was also showed there were statistically significant differences in the level of environmental awareness among male and female students. While no clear differences were shown among students that were related to the college type and school year variables.
