This study aims to extract the psychometric properties of the adult edition of
Toulouse self-esteem scale. The scale was translated from French to Arabic and it was
introduced to a set of Arabic language specialists to ensure good paraphrasing, and
then it
was re-translated to the original language (French) to ensure the accuracy of the
translation. The Scale was implemented on a random sample consisting of 500 adults in
Latakia city. The study results indicate a high level of validity of the scale and high degree
scale of reliability identical with the statistical indicators to of the French version of the
scale. Subsequently a series of hypotheses was tested which showed that there was no
difference between male and female means degrees on the scale except the social self field.
Also, it was found that there are statistical differences by educational level of respondents
in favor of postgraduate and graduate degrees. The differences on scale dimensions
according to the taxonomic variables (gender and educational level) were studied too. The
research suggested further studies on the scale in different environments and the necessity
to be used in educational and psychological fields.
