The present study aimed to find out the fourth grade
pupils trends of basic education towards the unit is designed in
accordance with the expansion Elaboration theory in Social
Studies and its relation to their academic achievement
, The research
er analyzes the content of the first three
units to book social studies for students in the fourth grade of
primary education, and re-organize content according to the
steps Elaboration theory expansion, and teacher preparation guide
on the basis of the proposed olive model in design education, and
testing of academic achievement and gauge students' attitudes
towards expansion theory, and after confirmation of the validity
and reliability of the tools, the researcher applied to a sample of
30 pupils, and the study results that pupils trends about
expansionist theory was positive and that there are no differences
in the students' attitudes towards unit designed according to
Elaboration theory expansion due to the variable Gender (Male,
Female) and that there is a statistically significant between pupils
trends link towards unit designed according to the expansionist
theory and academic achievement.
This study aimed at investigating fourth grade basic pupils’ attitudes towards social
studies based on Marzano’s Model and to investigate the effect of sex and residence of
these attitudes.
For that, the descriptive method was used, and the questi
onnaires’ attitudes towards
classroom climate and assigned tasks was administered to the simple random sample
consisted of (201) males and females pupils in Lattakia province schools.
The results showed that pupils’ attitudes were positive towards their acceptance by
the teacher and by their peers, order, social studies value, social studies clarity, and ability
to perform social studies. There were no significant differences among Females and male`
attitudes towards their acceptance by the teacher and by their peers, comfort, order, and
social studies value, and social studies clarity. Furthermore, Females` attitudes towards
ability to perform social studies more than males’ attitudes. In addition, Urban pupils`
attitudes towards social studies clarity and ability to perform social studies more than
urban pupils’ attitudes, whereas rural pupils` sense of comfort in social studies more than
urban pupils’ sense.
The study suggest according to these results the necessity of teaching teachers about
positive classroom climate and about assigned tasks for developing attitudes towards social
studies.
This study aimed at assist the level of habits of mind (persisting, managing
impulsivity, and striving for accuracy) in social studies to basic fourth grade pupils and to
identifying the relationship with gender and work of mother.
For that, the d
escriptive method was used, and prepared a reliable validate scale to
measure habits of mind in Social studies. The simple random sample consisted of (300)
fourth grade pupils in Lattakia province.
The results showed that the level of habits of mind to basic fourth grade pupils is
good in social studies. In addition, There were no significant differences among Females
and male` scores on scale of habits of mind in social studies in general and in each habit
individually, and There were no significant differences among habits of mind in social
studies due to the work mother in general and in each habit individually too. In addition,
urban pupils` scores on managing impulsivity more than rural pupils’ scores.
So, The research recommended in the light of the results of study to Necessity of use
habits of mind in social studies and other subjects for development of performance, and the
use of program based on habits of mind in teaching.
The current research aims at investigation The effectiveness of
the model of " thelen" in achievement development at the fourthgrade
students of primary school in social studies. The sample of
the research consists of two groups of students (contr
ol and
experimental) was (76) students, the number of students in the
control group (38) students, and the number of students in the
experimental group (38) students.
To fulfill the aim of the research, the researcher prepared tool(
Achievement test) to measure the academic achievement of
scientific knowledge among the students of the fourth grade of
primary education, After analyzing the data ,the Research
concluded the following results: There is a statistically significant
difference between the mean scores of control and experimental
groups students on academic achievement test in favor of the
experimental group. Accordingly, the researcher set a number of
recommendations benefit increased attention to the model of "
thelen" in the teaching process through the training of teachers and
urged them to use it, through providing them with assistance and
support needed for that.
The research aimed at determining the prevailing learning styles of
the fifth grade students and their attitudes towards social studies, and
recognizing the relationship between learning styles and their attitudes
towards Social Studies.
The rese
archer adopted the descriptive method, the sample consisted
of a group of fifth graders in a primary school, where they were
selected using the random simple method included (450) students from
first cycle schools in Damascus.
This research aimed at recognizing the efficiency of multiple intelligences strategy
in the improvement of attitudes towards social studies for fourth grade students of basic
educational level in Damascus City, this study was adopted on experimenta
l approach. The
research tool formed of attitude scale designed by the researcher. The population of the
research consisted of (177854) fourth- grade basic education students in Damascus. The
research sample consisted of (72) male and female students divided into two groups: an
experimental group consisted of (34) male and female students of Safia Al-qurashia school
studied by multiple intelligences strategy, and a control group consisted of (38) male and
female students of the same school studied by traditional manner.
The findings of the study were as follows:
- The multiple intelligences strategy was effective in the improvement of attitudes
towards social studies for fourth grade students of basic educational level.
- There were significant statistical differences between the attitudes of experimental
group students in the pre and post application of attitude scale, due to multiple
intelligences strategy.
- There were significant statistical differences between the attitudes of experimental
group students and control group students in post application of attitude scale, due to
multiple intelligences strategy.
Similar studies are suggested for different age stages and studying subjects.
