The susceptibility of some varieties grown locally of common bean has been evaluated for both pseudomonas savastanoi pv phaseolicola which causes halo blight and xanthomonas axonopodis pv phaseoli which causes common bacterial blight. Five locally cultivated varieties were planted in green house under natural conditions.
Using the transport kinetic equation for spin density in thin film as 2D Fermi liquid, the dynamic spin susceptibility is calculated in terms of the Landau parameters a for thin film. The formula allows to estimate the dispersion relation of susc eptibility with arbitrary up to quadric term in wave vector 2 k . The possibility of experimental determine of Landau's parameters with higher is discussed and compared with others in this field.
In this paper, an optical setup to produce harmonic hyper-Rayleigh light scattering (HRS) from organic molecules in solution has been built up. In principle, HRS measures contribution coefficients of dipole and octupole parts. The nonlinear suscep tibility of the second order of six organic molecules in solution from different chemical components such as Pyridinium, Quinolinium groups and organic Borone complexes has been determined. The nonlinear susceptibility measurements help to discover and select the most efficient molecules which can be used later as polymer matrices.
A total of 30 water samples and 45 infected fish (carp, Cyprinus carpio) were collected from freshwater fish farm (Dam of 16 Tishreen-Lattakia) and analysed bacteriological. Macroscopic examinations of infected fish had showed the presence of haem orrhagic skin lesions with brown or red spots throughout their skin. A total of 64 Aeromonas strains were isolated. The Aeromonas isolates were distributed as follows: Aeromonas hydrophila (34, 53%), A. caviae (16, 25%), A. sobria (9, 14%) and (5, 8%) of unidentified aeromonads. Collectively, Aeromonas spp. are considered as opportunistic causative agents of human gastroenteritis and other infections. Antibiotic susceptibility tests were carried on all strains of isolated Aeromonas spp. using twenty different antibiotics by agar disk diffusion method.
Palaeomagnetism and some magnetic and physical properties (magnetic susceptibility, intensity of remanent magnetization, ac current electrical conductivity and density) of 115 samples from 18 sites of the Yemen Volcanic Group TKY (Tertiary and (or ) Cretaceous) from igneous rock exposures from Sana’a region were studied. One palaeomagnetic pole position was determined and a magneto-strigraphy of the area was suggested. The different properties were measured in order to use them as characteristic factors in discriminating the neighboring igneous flows. The measurement of the in situ magnetic susceptibility of 80 points, distributed on 4 sub-areas, in the area helped to calculate the mean value of the magnetic susceptibility of each sub-area, which may be used in any magnetic interpretation of aeromagnetic or magnetic anomalies. Also, the density of 115 samples were measured and a mean value of the density of each sub-area and an overall mean density of each rock age, were calculated in order to be used in any future interpretation of any gravity anomaly in the area.
A total of 294 samples of raw-unpasteurized bovine milk and variety of dairy products (hard cheese, sweet cheese, cream cheese and cream), were collected from local markets in Lattakia city as well as 44 samples of used water (clear potable water collected before used in cheese preparing processes) and preserving water (turbid water collected from hard cheese preserving tanks). All samples were analyzed for E.coli O157: H7 detection.
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) in the Mediterranean climate can experience two types of drought: intermittent drought stress and terminal drought stress. A study was conducted during early August 2002 to early April 2003 under glasshouse conditions , to study the response of six chickpea genotypes, four Kabuli and two Desi, to soil moisture levels.
Palaeomagnetism and some magnetic and physical properties (magnetic susceptibility, intensity of the Natural Remnant Magnetization (NRM), ac current electrical conductivity and density) of 136 samples from 22 sites of the Yemen Volcanic Group TKY (Tertiary and (or) Cretaceous) from igneous rock exposures along the road from Sana’a – west towards Al-Hudyadah were studied. A single population consists of seven Virtual Geomagnetic Poles (VGP), of the Upper Oligocene, was accepted and a mean at 182.81° E, 77.44° N with α95= 12.5° was calculated. The different properties were measured in order to use these properties as characteristic factors to discriminate the neighboring igneous flows. The measurement of the in situ magnetic susceptibility of 140 points, distributed on 7 sub-areas, in the region helped to calculate the mean value of the magnetic susceptibility of each sub-area, which might be used in any magnetic interpretation of aeromagnetic or magnetic anomalies. Also, the density of 132 samples were measured and a mean value of the density of each sub-area was calculated in order to be used in any future interpretation of any gravity anomaly in the area.
The aim of this study is to use the measured values of the magnetic susceptibility in the classification of the basaltic rocks and their different differentiation degrees as an additional discrimination factor to the geochemical analyses, which we re applied on the basalts of southern and southeastern Syria. So the magnetic susceptibility of ٢٠٤ specimens sampled from all the ٧ basaltic groups in Qasr Shbeeka area in addition to ٦٢ specimens sampled from three groups from outside the studied area were measured. This led to the determination of all the magnetic susceptibility ranges, their mean values and their standard deviation of the basaltic rocks in the area.
