The aim of this research is to to identify the availability requirements of the application of Six Sigma methodology in the companies studied, by identifying the degree of realization of the importance of employees applying six sigma methodology, and to identify the suitability of the organizational culture prevailing in the companies studied to apply the methodology six sigma, and to identify the availability of the necessary skills to apply six sigma methodology. The results of this research indicated the low degree of employees’ awareness to the importance of applying six sigma methodology, and the lack of appropriate organizational culture currently prevailing in the companies to organizational culture required for the application of six sigma methodology, and to non-availability of sufficient skills to apply six sigma methodology. Banking Systems face a lot of changes and challenges, which necessitate applying new management and performance improvement concepts, as an attempt to achieve excellence, Six Sigma is considered to be one of the best methodologies that help in this regard because it may be utilized in improving banks performance and decrease defects in their processes. This study aimed to highlight the role of six sigma approach to improve the performance of Syrian banks according to the application of six sigma model elements (DMAIC) and selecting six sigma team (Improvement Team). Conclusions of the study show the importance of implementing Six Sigma methodology in all local sections including industrial and service organizations, and there is a tendency in the Syrian banks to utilize six sigma approach. Conclusions also show that there is a significant statistical impact between each of application of six sigma model elements (DMAIC), Selecting six sigma team (Improvement Team), and the performance improvement of Syrian banks. Based on that, several recommendations were presented. Among these recommendations were the urgency and the need of benefiting from the best practices in the field of Six Sigma. Invest in training and provide the employees with some experience in this field.
The research aims at identifying the impact of the application of EMS ISO 14001 on the competitive performance of industrial companies in the pharmaceutical Syrian public and private sectors. The research depends on the descriptive analytical method. the population includes the working people in industrial pharmaceutical companies, public and private in Damascus and its countryside: the results are: 1- Syrian pharmaceutical companies perform well as a result of the application of EMS ISO 14001, which is reflected in the application of the requirements of the EMS 14001. This contributed to making their products compete with foreign products imported, as it is through the quality of its products have achieved a growth in sales, and in the high rate of profit, and increase the value of exports, and most importantly to achieve customer satisfaction. 2- There is a positive correlation and statistically significant between the requirements of the EMS as a whole and competitive performance, and between every dimension of these ecosystems and competitive performance at the level of the sample as a whole. 3- Different pharmaceutical companies both public and private in the application of the requirements of ISO 14001 environmental management systems, and show these differences in terms of environmental policy, implementation and operation of environmental, environmental testing and debugging. This study aimed at identifying the reality of the application of the principles of total quality management in training programs in Textile Co., Lattakia, as well as to identify problems that prevent its application in the company. The researcher pr epared a questionnaire and distributed it to the research sample, which amounted to (33) members of the trainers who are working in the company. She also conducted in-direct interviews with some managers, and some workers who have received training in the company. The researcher found a set of results, the most important of them was: - The company contains a section of the company's quality management, which means the quality of the final product, which provides to consumer to achieving his satisfaction only, but it does not contain a section of total quality management for the entire company's activities. - the high management supports training programs, as the trainees are selected on the basis of their training needs، and choosing of the trainers based on the competencies and skills required. - The company does not involve trainees in the design of training programs، and decision-making related to them. - There are great problems prevent the application of the principles of total quality management in the training program for the company، the most important of them was centralized management and the lack of devolution of powers، in addition to the many burdens and business entrusted to the trainers in addition to their work in training، makes them distracted and unable to focus properly investigating the required quality. The researcher recommended the need to make a special section of TQM in the company, and subjecting workers to intensive courses in TQM, in addition to granting authority, confidence and motivation to all members of the training team, to make decisions for the preparation of the training program, implementation and evaluation it.
