Introduction: As nursing develop with regard to science, knowledge & practice and nursing responsibilities increase, critical thinking- the ability to question and make rational decisions- becomes even more important. Whereas, critical thinking requi
res that all thoughts and actions be examined objectively, in patient care almost all actions require decision making, and problem solving. Critical thinking is an essential element in decision making which involves choices, and problem solving which requires analysis. Through critical thinking skills, a nurse manager can become a transformational leader. She can challenge the routine nursing practices now, develop a more robust understanding of any problem underlying causes, and develop her leadership skills as well as develop more creative solutions when using critical thinking. Although, critical thinking skills are more important but there were few studies both English and Arabic and there was no study in Syria concerned with critical thinking skills that must used by nurse mangers to do their role effectively, for that this study was conducted and aimed to assess critical thinking skills of nurse managers in Al- Assad university hospital and Al- Wattany hospital in Lattakia. The study was conducted in Al- Assad university and Al- Wattany hospitals in Lattakia. Whereas, The study sample consisted of 21 nurse managers , and 80 nurses from both hospitals. The results of this study showed that there were positive convergence between nurses 'viewpoints and nurse managers ' viewpoints in both hospitals and that nurse managers used critical thinking skills in their practice.
This research aims defining the problems critical thinking related to
each of the following themes: (teacher, classroom environment,
curriculum content, teaching techniques, calendar, school
environment) from a sample of teachers of the first cycl
e of basic
education schools look numbered (125) teachers and a teacher in the
city of protoplasm. Where the use of a questionnaire included the
education problems of critical thinking in each of the previous hubs,
have reached research is to identify a range of problems including:
asylum teacher to orders and instructions in dealing with students,
double the rehabilitation of teacher training, lack of interest in
school administration by providing guide instructs the teacher to
how teach critical thinking, not to employ modern technologies in
educational activities, fit the calendar with methods that focus on
conservation and memorization techniques.
The research aim to know the impact of using puzzles in the
development of critical thinking with pupils in the fourth grade
basic In mathematics, to achieve this goal, The researcher set up
(22) Puzzles mystery spread over seven lessons are(Angle
s,
Rectangle and square, Surroundings of rectangle and square,
Rectangle and square area, Height and distance, Mass, Capacity),
The research sample consisted of (61) male and female students
from the School of Abdul Karim Al Ragab, Divided into
experimental group numbered (30) pupils have been taught by
mathematical puzzles, And a control group numbered (31) pupils
have been taught in the traditional way, The study tool is a test of
critical thinking and test consisted of (24) items, distributed evenly
over the four skills of critical thinking, It follows: The skill of the
possibility of the right solution, interpretation Skill.
The study main to know the effect of the program ' Right Intelligent System
Knowledge 'on the development of the critical thinking for Students Faculty of
Agriculture in University of Teashreen. The sample of the research was chosen
intentionally
, it composed of (72) students. The study had the quasi-experimental
methodology in terms of dividing the research sample into two groups: the experimental
group which consisted of (36) students, and the control group which consisted of (36)
students. The researcher used "Right Intelligent System of Knowledge " Program: It is
translated by Dr. Nadia Al-sourour in (2005), which taught the students how to think. The
program consisted of four parts: Living Skills, The System, The Power of Thinking, and
Success. It is suitable for students from the fifth grade till university level. And researcher
used California's Test for critical thinking: is translated by each of Abdullal Ague and Adel
Albanna, and it was adopted by the current study Photo-verbal of this test, for measuring
the capacity: the total score, analysis, evaluation, inference. The study showed that: there
was a statistically significant difference between experimental and control groups
according to California's Test for critical thinking including with the dimensions of
analysis, evaluation, inference, and the total degree as a result of the post, so this difference
is due to the right intelligent system of knowledge program, and this shows the
effectiveness of this program and its ability to develop critical thinking skills. Too, there
was no statistically significant difference between male and female students from the
experimental group on the California's Test of critical thinking including with the
dimensions of analysis, evaluation, inference, and the total degree.
This research aims to determine the level of critical
thinking among classroom teacher department students in
Faculty Of Education Al-Baath University
who assimilate (67) students. Those students represent the 667
for the third level.
To achieve the main goal for this research, the research
used Watson&Glassar measurement after improving it and
then examining its sycometric characteristics.
This study aimed to investigating the prevalence of Cornell Critical Thinking Test
Level (x) on a sample of talented students in the national Centre for the distinguished
(NCD) in Syria, and to identify the levels of critical thinking among talente
d students, and
whether these differed according to (students’ gender, academic level), the sample
consisted of (167) talented students, the results showed that the participants exhibited an
average level of Critical Thinking, and no Significant differences were found due to
gender, the results also revealed that Significant differences were found due to academic
level for the third academic level.
The Present Study aims at developing The California Critical Thinking Skills Test for University Students According to the Latent Traits Theory. To Achieve this aim, Scientific Steps are followed Starting with the Translating the Items and its Instru
ctions from English into Arabic, then re-translated the Arabic version into English, taking into consideration the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the whole ideas included in the test. Several modifications are required by translation experts and which were considered later. Then the Arabic version of the test is exposed on an Arabic Language expert who recommended certain modification in the style of the Arabic translation, and which were all taken into accont. The final Arabic version of the test is exposed on a number of experts in the field of Educational and Psychological Sciences in order to check its suitable characteristics as well as those of the alternatives with respect to form and content. Consequently all the test items are considered logically suitable to achieve the aim of the present study. The test is applied on a pilot sample of (50) male and female students in order to ensure the clarity of the test items and instruction, and to estimate the time required to respond to the test and which is fond out to be (50) minutes. The test Has applied on a stratified random sample of (500) male and female university students. Rasch's unit- dimension model, which is one of the Latent Trait Theory models, is applied for item analysis. To verify model's assumptions, the follow steps are applied:1. One-dimensional: In order to verify this assumption, factor analysis is done by using (the Principal components Method). According, One factor meaningful to the test. The same factor depended on the lower limits of Guttman who believes that a factor is considered statistically significant when the (Eigen value) equals or more than (1), and depending on a ratio of (0.30 – up) to represent the items saturation ratio by the general factor according to Guilford's norm. No item is omitted from the test. another method is used to achieve One-dimensionality of the test which is by finding out Point Biserial correlation (i.e the relation of the item score with total score of the test) as an internal consistency index between the test items since it is directed to measure one trait or ability.2. Matching the items of the model depending on the (Chi² value) according to the outputs of the program. This Procedure shows that four Items are statistically significant on a level of significance of (0.05). Therefore, (18) individuals of the sample of the statistical analysis were eliminated who have unmatched responses with the model's assumptions. 3.The discrimination coefficient value is found out to be near (1), where the exact value is found out to be (1. 03).4.The independence of the scale to achieve objectivity of measurement is represent by Rasch's model, consequently, no items are removed.5.In order to get rid of fractions and negative signals (i.e. minus), the logget unit is changed in to the percentile WAT unit to find out the items difficulty and the individual's ability estimation. In the light of the statistical analysis above, suitable conclusions, recommendations, and suggestions for further studies are put forward.
