The ultimate goal of this study is to enhance the cultural competence of the Syrian students at both the school and university phases throughout the teaching of English. The first part of this study provides what many researchers think about the roles of the textbook and the teacher in strengthening the relationship between the learner and his/her own culture and/or the other cultures including the target culture. In the second part of this study, an analysis from a cultural perspective of the Syrian context is provided. This analysis focuses on the English language textbooks used at the Syrian schools and at Tishreen university. Then it moves to both the Syrian teachers and leaners. This research paper offers an analysis of the Syrian Crisis in light of the Realist Theory of International Relations. It argues that Realism can provide a better explanation for the conduct of regional and international powers that intervene in t he Syrian Crisis. As a preliminary, the paper will provide a historical overview of partition of Greater Syria since the beginning of the twentieth century to the establishment of the present-day Syrian state. This places the Syrian crisis within a historical context that the researcher believes is important for a deeper understanding of regional and international policies towards the Syrian Crisis.
This study aimed at investigating parents’ efficiency in raising children from their adolescent children’s perspective. A test was applied on a sample of 291 male and female secondary school students (from both general and commercial education types) aged 15 to 16. The sample included 146 females and 145 males. The difference in the efficiency of raising children between fathers and mothers were measured, taking into account the variables of mothers’ work (working mother/housewife). The differences between students according to their gender and type of education were also measured. The results showed some differences in efficiency between fathers and mothers in favor of the mothers. There was also a correlation between mothers’ and fathers’ efficiency. No significant differences were found between the male and female students in their evaluation of parents’ efficiency in raising children. No significant differences were also found between working mothers and housewives. The differences in averages, however, came in favor of working mothers The research suggests carrying out some training courses for parents on how to bring up their children in the best way and how to give them the best attention.
The research aims to reveal the reality of using education techniques in teaching mathematics from the teachers' point of view. The research sample consisted of (67)mathematics teachers for the basic education stage (second phase) in Homs city, cl assified according to their scientific qualifications into (28 associate degrees, 20 Bachelor degrees and19 Master degrees).
