This research aimed to know the level of a sense of loneliness among the elderly residents in social care homes, and to know the differences in the degree of loneliness between males and females, as it aimed to detect the differences in the sense of loneliness depending on the variables; of social situation, and age. This study aims at finding out the differences between the elderly residing infirmaries and those staying with their Families concerning their suffering of anxiety according to the factors of the place of residence, age and gender. The study deals with 436 elderlies; these include 222 males and 214 females. The elderlies in the infirmaries are 150 and those with their Families are 286 as taken from the governorates of Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs and Lattakia.
Depression is considered to be one of the most common mental disorders among the elderly, especially among those with chronic physical diseases in particular Diabetes. Therefore research problem was defined by the following question: What is the r elationship between diabetes and depression in the elderly?, and have dealt with the research sample "elderly" residents in Dar Al-saadah and Al-karamah in Damascus. Research sample has reached the number of 40 of the elderly and consisted of 40 examined individuals aged over 60 years old. The researcher used the Depression Scale for the Elderly D.E.S in her current study which contains 80 phrases to measure the level of depression in the elderly. The study has revealed that the potential incidence with depression and the intensity of its symptoms increase when an elderly is diabetic compared with non-diabetic and vice versa, it also revealed that females have recorded higher levels of depression on the depression scale compared with males, it also showed that whenever there is a lower educational level among diabetics elderly the rate of the incidence with depression increases.
This study aimed to know the Psychological Loneliness and the meaning of life in a sample of women with infertility in Lattakia in the Syrian Arab Republic and the known differences between respondents depending on the variables of the study. The current research aimed to recognize the level of psychological security among a sample of Tishreen university students. In order to achieve the objective of this research, Shkeer's psychological security scale was applied, which its factor str ucture was investigate by the researcher in a previous study. The scale was used for data collection, and in year 2017-2018, a sample of (233) students participated in the research. The results showed that the level of students’ psychological security is medium, and there is no difference between males and females, but there are differences according to the specialty, especially in “practice life”, where that the students of practice specialty showed higher feeling of psychological security than the students of theoretic specialty.
