Depression is considered to be one of the most common mental disorders among the elderly, especially among those with chronic physical diseases in particular Diabetes. Therefore research problem was defined by the following question: What is the relationship between diabetes and depression in the elderly?, and have dealt with the research sample "elderly" residents in Dar Al-saadah and Al-karamah in Damascus. Research sample has reached the number of 40 of the elderly and consisted of 40 examined individuals aged over 60 years old. The researcher used the Depression Scale for the Elderly D.E.S in her current study which contains 80 phrases to measure the level of depression in the elderly. The study has revealed that the potential incidence with depression and the intensity of its symptoms increase when an elderly is diabetic compared with non-diabetic and vice versa, it also revealed that females have recorded higher levels of depression on the depression scale compared with males, it also showed that whenever there is a lower educational level among diabetics elderly the rate of the incidence with depression increases.

This study aims at finding out the differences between the elderly residing infirmaries and those staying with their Families concerning their suffering of anxiety according to the factors of the place of residence, age and gender. The study deals with 436 elderlies; these include 222 males and 214 females. The elderlies in the infirmaries are 150 and those with their Families are 286 as taken from the governorates of Damascus, Rural Damascus, Homs and Lattakia.
This research aimed to know the level of a sense of loneliness among the elderly residents in social care homes, and to know the differences in the degree of loneliness between males and females, as it aimed to detect the differences in the sense o f loneliness depending on the variables; of social situation, and age. In This research it is used Loneliness scale of preparation by the researcher. The researcher extracted the validity and reliability for the scale of Loneliness. The scale is applied in social care homes in the cities of Latakia and Tartous. The sample consisted of (32) elderly 12 males and 20 female. The research is found the following results: The level of a sense of loneliness is average, and there is no statistically significant differences in the sense of loneliness between males and females, as too there are no statistically significant differences in the sense of loneliness depending on the variables of the age for the research sample, and there are statistically significant differences in the sense of loneliness depending on the variables of the social situation.
The objective of this research is to find out the relationship between psychological pressure and mental toughness, and to find out the differences in these variables regarding the income and academic qualification of people who suffer from diabetes (A) in Lattakia Province. The study sample consisted of (750) diabetics, (416) males and (334) females. The ages ranged between 15 and 60 years with an average of 35 years. For this purpose, the researcher used psychological pressures scale and mental toughness scale, where their psychometric characteristics were identified through an empirical sample. The research yielded the following results: There is a statistically significant positive relationship between psychological pressure and mental toughness in the research sample. There are statistically significant differences at the indication level (0.05) between the average scores of the answers of the members of the research sample on the psychological pressure scale and mental toughness scale depending on the research's two variables: (level of income, academic qualification).
This study aims to identify the relationship between self- Consciousness and the irrational thoughts and how this relationship may vary on the basis of sexual differentiation. The sample of the study consists of (330) students from the first second ary class (150 male, 180 female). The study has used the self- Consciousness scale (Fenigstein, et.al., 1975) and the irrational thoughts scale (Al-mougharbel, 2010). The findings indicate that there is a statistically significant relationship between the private and the public selfconsciousness along with the irrational thoughts. In addition, there are differences in self- Consciousness resulting from sexual differentiation and are in favor of females. There are also no differences in the irrational thoughts depending on the basis of sexual differentiation.
The purpose of the research is to identify the correlation between selfaffirmation and decision-making, and to find out the differences between the average grade of university students and the members of the research sample on the scale of self-affirmation and decision making according to the gender variable and the academic specialization.
