The present investigation was carried out at the nursery of Agricultural faculty- Tishreen University, during 2016-2017, to evaluate the best organic culture medium for the seedling production of Zinnia (Zinnia elegans) and Stock (Matthiolaincana) with the lowest costs. Seven different mediums were experimented (Turf, waste mushroom compost, farm waste compost and their combinations). The results showed some differences in chemical and physical characters of experimented mediums. This differences had an impact on germination parameters (seed germination percentage, speed of germination, daily germination) and seedling quality (seedling length, collar diameter, fresh and dray weight, percentage of dray matter). The results indicated the mediums consisting of turf (T1), waste mushroom compost with turf (T6) and waste mushroom compost with farm waste compost (T7) gave the best germination rate and the highest quality of seedling. Data showed as well that T3 and T7 treatments realized the lowest costs and higher economic profit than other treatments.
This study investigated the effect of the water extract of two types of algae which spread in Syrian marine: Colpomenia sinuosa (Brown) and Ulva fasciata (green) and a combination of them in the cultivation on tomato and tobacco seeds with concent rations of (1: 2 1: 4 1: 6 1: 8 1:10 1: 20) By adding 5ml of each concentration, and comparing it with the control sample with only distilled water added, the comparison was made in terms of: The germination, stem length, root length, root branch.
The research aims to study the effect of the treatment of the eggplant seeds- pink local kind in some seaweed extracts to improve the germination characteristics, as well as the study of their impact on the growth of the resulting seedlings and their ability to withstand the transplanting shock.
This research was carried out during two seasons 2014 – 2015 to study effect of seed coats on germination of endocarp, seed and embryos of two wild genotypes (M1, M2) of Mahaleb rootstock (Prunus mahaleb L.) prevailing in Alhaffa area, Lattakia. Th e experiments were done at Lattakia Scientific Agricultural Research center and Faculty of Agriculture at Tishreen University. The Results of the seeds planted on agar 0.7% in dark at 15 C° showed that no germination of the M1 endocarp VS late and low germination at 10% for the M2 endocarp starting after 98 days. As for seeds, the germination was (66.66%) and (53.33%) for M1 and M2, respectively. Removal of the woody coat (endocarp) and seed coat makes the germination faster. the embryos germination was (80%) and (60%) for M1 and M2, respectively.
This research aims study the effect of different treatments in activate and increase percentage of germination Cupressus arizonicaL.seeds to use plants in forestation projects, seeds were get from mature conifers, and tested by different treatments with control, then cultured within polyethylene bags many times to calculate indicators of germination. The results showed that the soaking the seeds Cupressus arizonicaL. in citric acid 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days at 4-5c gave higher germination percentage 75%.The treatments of the soaking seeds in sulfuric acid0.1% and hydroxide sodium 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days gave respectively 60%-53% .But superiority was not significant. Other treatments; soaking the seeds in tap water 24h with cold wet stratification for 30 days gave only 36%.But the control treatment gave lower germination percentage of all just only 9%. The treatment of soaking seeds in citric acid 0.1% with cold wet stratification for 30 days surpassed the rest of the treatments in effect on plant height at the end of the experiment.
The effect of different culture medias (water, MS solid, MS 1/2 solid) on germination and growth of heliotropiun hirsutissimum Grauer. in vitro was studied with different concentrations of gibberellic acid (0.001-0.01-0.1 and 1 mg/l). The results showed that best germination rate (80.5%) and root (20mm) and shoot (35mm) growth were obtained in MS solid medium with 0.1mg/l GA3. Addition of 0.1mg/l GA3 to MS1/2 solid medium improved germination rate (75.44%), root (19mm), and shoot (24mm)growth. When GA3 (0.1 mg/l) was added to water medium, germination rate reached (65.33%), as well as root and shoot growth (12.66mm and20mm) alternatively after 2 weeks of planting. Seedling of MS solid medium were transferred into pots contained torp medium to adapting them with outside environment, and then surviving their growth until maturity after 4 weeks.
The study was carried out on trifoliate orange rootstock trees (Poncirus trifoliata L.) at Ciano Research Station where the trees were sprayed with nutrients or gibberelic acid GA3 or togethers, beside the control (without spraying). Different trea tments of seed storage were tested in order to study their effect on seed viability to increase it. The seeds were stored for three months using four treatments: (a) seed storage in fruits at +4˚C, (b) Storage in juice at +4˚C, (c) Storage at lab temperature, and (d) seed storage at fridge temperature +4˚C. The results showed that all spraying treatments were positive at postharvest, as compared with the control. However, treatment of seed storage inside the fruit gave the highest significant germination rate for all spraying treatments. Treatments of spraying with nutrients were the best. The viability of seeds considerably decreased for all treatments of seed storage at fridge temperature +4˚C, whereas germination was zero for seed stored in juice and seed stored at lab temperature.
The aim of this study was to test the effeciency of some organic and bio fertilizers in improving the seeds germination and transplants growth of pepper Capsicum annum L. local variaty" Qorn Algazal":by using two commercial compounds; organic (Hube st) and one bio (EMI) fertilizers. Two experiments were used; the aim of the first was to study the effect of these fertilizers on germination of seeds in Petri dishes and plastic peatmoss peds. Whereas the aim of the second experiment was to evaluate the effect of the fertilizers on the pepper transplants growth that prepared in the 5 * 5 Striopor peatmoss plates placed in un warmed plastic tunnel. The results showed that the soaking of pepper seeds in the tested fertilizers, provoked and the germination increased the seeds, vigor, with a significant performance of the bio fertilizer. The results also showed that the treated transplants with the tested fertilizers gave an increase of the transplants growth ratio (the height, leaves number and foliar surface area, the dry and wet weight) with a significance superiority of the bio fertilizer.
This study was carried out during 2014-2015 in two different nurseries located in University nursery (Lattakia governorate) and Salhab nursery (countryside of Hama governorate). Seeds were taken from two sites of Lattakia governorate (Mashqita– Bsn ada) where Cordia myxa exists as exotic species in some coastal regions and three treatments in addition to control were examined .The results showed that there is an effect of scarification of seeds on investigated treatments and were significant differences in germination percentage in both sites which recorded 55% in university nursery and 35% in Al-Ghab nursery. While there were not contrast between the soaking in boiling and tap water treatments on the seed germination energy in Al-Ghab nursery. Scarification treatment gave higher value of germination energy 25% in Al-Ghab nursery and 21.66% in university nursery , while the same treatment decreased germination velocity compared to other treatments in university nursery which seed needed in average ( 8,01 day) whereas the same treatment increased germination velocity in Al-Ghab nursery which needed (1,54 day). Finally, regarding to cutting ,There is not observe to any positive influence to cuttings which treated in ABA hormone (1g/l) for (10,20,30 m). It could be deduced that there were changes in germination percentage, germination energy and germination velocity in two sites which appeared to be a Preliminary indication of impact of the some dormancy breaking treatments on investigated indications of Cordia myxa Forsk. species .
The results shows that, the cold wet of Canary pine seeds stratification for 15 days at (4-5c◦),gave higher germination percentage( 91.11%). The treatment of soaking seeds with superiority was not significant. Other treatments; the cold wet strati fication of seed for(30) days at(4-5c◦), soaking seeds with tap water for (48 h.) and the control, all gave lower germination percentages, but still higher than (60%). The treatment of soaking seeds with GA had significant superiority in the speed of germination (2.32 day ∕ seed), but it was not significant with the cold wet stratification.
