Twenty plant and animal food samples were collected from different commercial stores. These samples were placed in a sterilezed plastic bags not to be polluted and were moved to the laboratory in special thermal containers to be tested. The solid samples were processed in the Digester to study each sample separately , while the liquid samples were tested immediately after being diluted. After that they were studied with biochemical tests to identify the type of germ that existed.

204 samples were collected from various body samples during the year 2016. These 204 samples distributed as follows: 133 from urine , 37 swabs of wounds and burns, 10 swabs from the ear and pharynx, 12 from feces, 8 from CSF, 4 from blood. This s tudy distinctly showed that gram negative bacilli were the most isolates 136 (67%) while 68 isolates (33%) were gram positive bacteria . E. coli dominated (39.68%) of the total gram negative bacilli. This study distinctly showed an increase in the ratio of E. coli resistance to one or more types of antibiotics , we found that E. coli resistance to all antibiotics except specific and expensive antibiotics, and we found that its complete resistance to the second ,third and fourth generation of cephalosporins , resistance to specific and antibiotics such as Imipenem.
The bacterial case of groundwater samples from Homs Governorate was studied to determine the bacterial load, Twenty-eight groundwater samples were collected from various areas (including areas of the western, northern and eastern governorates of the governorate) between March and July 2017. Where they were collected in sterile glass containers after opening and running the water for 5 minutes to avoid any external contamination.
Two hundred and thirty-six E. coli isolates n=236 were collected. Antibiotic susceptibility and ESBL production were studied by disc diffusion and DDST (double disk synergy tests) according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines (CLSI) and EUCAST for ESBL. 75 (32%)of total isolates demonstrated MDR (multi drug resistance),62 of resistant bacteria (26% of total) were determined as ESBL producers. In conclusion, we recommend adding this standard, cheap ESBL detection method to the routine microbial susceptibility tests run in Syrian hospitals in order to determine and isolate the sources of MDR infections and do some effort to contain and eliminate those strains.
