Background& Objective: Onychomycosis is a frequent nail disease caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and non-dermatophyte molds. Far more than being a simple cosmetic problem, infected nail serves as a chronic reservoir, which can give rise to repeated mycotic infections. This study aim to identify the common fungal species which are responsible for onychomycosis in clinically suspected patients of onychomycosis in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Hospital in Damascus between October 2010 and July 2011. Materials & Methods: Both direct microscopy and culture of the nail material were performed to identify the causative fungi of onychomycosis. Results: Culture positivity was obtained in 65 of the 76 clinically suspected samples, etiological fungal agents were (%61.5) dermatophytes, (24.6%) yeasts, and (13.9 %) non-dermatophyte molds . The isolated fungal species were (43.1%) Trichophyton Rubrum and (16.9%) T. Interdigitale (1.5%) T.Verrucosum Aspergillus Versicolor which was the most frequent non dermatophyte molds. Females were affected in fingernails more frequently than males, while males were affected in toenails more frequently than females, and in both sexes those most infected were between 20-40 years of age. Conclusion: Dermatophytes, in particular T. rubrum, but also T. Interdigitale, are the most frequently isolated causative agents in onychomycosis in patients seen in Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Hospital in Damascus . In addition, yeasts may be isolated relatively frequently, while molds are uncommon.
The current research aims to identify the self-esteem and its relationship to the quality of life among the students of sections of psychology and psychological counseling in the College of Education at the University of Damascus, according to the va riables of gender (male, female), and a course of study (psychology, psychological counseling (to identify the relationship between self-esteem and quality life in a sample search I have been using a measure of the quality of life for the students of the University of preparation (and forgotten Kazim 2006) and a measure of self-esteem, Dr. preparation (fruit Jaafar 2007). The number of members of the sample as a whole (100), including 50 of the students in the Department of Psychology and (50) students in the Department of Psychological Guidance. The study found the following results: 1- No correlation statistically significant differences between the quality of life and self-esteem among the members of the research sample. 2- There were no differences by sex in the quality of life. 3- There are no differences depending on the specialization course in quality of life. 4- There were no differences by sex in self-esteem. 5- There are no differences depending on the specialization course in self-esteem.

And the Results of the study were as follows: 1- There is no relationship statistically significant correlation between the degree of high school students on the scale of Psychological hardness and grades on a scale of identity crisis. 2- There are no significant statistical differences between mean scores of high school students on scale Psychological hardness due to the variable (gender). 3- There are significant statistical differences between mean scores of high school students on scale Psychological hardness due to the variable (Class). 4- There are significant statistical differences between mean scores of high school students on scale identity crisis due to the variable (gender). 5- There are no significant statistical differences between mean scores of high school students on scale identity crisis due to the variable (Class).
