Arab criticism has accessed a phase in which the tendency to changing the diction of dealing with the text whether it was narrative or verse was an urgent necessity. The most important aspects of this change are shown in the interest in what is ca lled (Form), the non-separation between the content and the context, revealing the internal secrets of texts in an attempt to refreshing the point of view to the narrative text and dealing in a different way with its structure throughout making a reading variety derived from the common and the uncommon modern critical theories. The interest in studying narrative structure on top of the critical researches involved in novel which take part in introducing critical processing that analyses texts and aims to uncover them away from mental – social and historical references that go-round them.

The description of place in the novel, Beautiful Damascus, is associated with its creator’s cultural dimension, so he impregnates it with his thoughts and aspirations. Place description is one based upon interpretation. He did not describe geograp hical places in particular, but he intended to form them in an artistic manner which serves his ideas. This paper aims at studying realism in the feminist novel in both Jordan and Palestine. It starts by giving a thorough definition of realism and what it means, within exactly the domain of literary criticism. As in other literary trends and approa ches, there seems to exist an evident discrepancy among these viewpoints, that is to say in how these schools view realism. Realism appears to be prevalent in the Jordanian and Palestinian novel, as a result of various factors. Furthermore, a number of effects from within the literary movement itself participated in the dominance and the materialization of this trend.
This paper proposes to examine the role of the English aristocracy in the colonial process and in empire building as shown in The Caxtons, a novel written by the nineteenth-century novelist Edward Bulwer-Lytton and published in 1849. The novel wil l be contextualized within a larger framework of other literary and non-literary texts.
