The study was performed to discover parasitic Nematoda in
digestive system of Siganus rivulatus (Forsskal and Niebuhr, 1775) in
beach water of Lattakia, and investigation the role of some ecological
parameters on its distribution.
The aim of the research was to find out the effect of some acidic pre
servatives on the pseudomonas of the cultivars, which are considere
d the main cause of the spoilage of trout meat in different degrees of
cooling.
This study has been carried out on Saddled bream , from the
family of Sparidae, which was caught from the coastal waters of
Tartous province.
The results showed that, Saddled bream reached at the fifth stage
of sexual maturity during April and May for males and females,
and the study of the sexual maturity index GSI confirmed these
results.
Samples of Trout dived into aqueous extract of ginger in different
concentrations (5-15-25)% for one minute and then preserved at 4±1
cº for 13 days. It has studied the effect of aqueous extract of ginger
in bacterial load, including general bacterial census and the census
of pseudomonas. It was also identified the values of the pH and
some organoleptic qualities of meat such as color, smell, texture and
taste.
The approximate composition (moisture, protein, fat, ash), the
content of heavy metals ( lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury) wre
determined for twenty sample of Pangasius hypophthalmus frozen
fillets , fish samples collected from ten different are
as in the city of
Damascus varying in price , country origin and date of production
during the period between january -july of 2016.
In the present study,a total of 50 individuals ofsurmulletMullussurmuletuswere
examined forexoparasites infections. The specimens were collected from the Syrian marine
waters (Latakia, Jablah) between 15/10/2014 and 30/10/2015. The skin, mouth cavi
ty,
nostrils and gills of each specimen were examined.
One parasite species belonging to Monogenea,Grubea cochlear was identified for the
first time in the Syrian marine waters and in Mediterranean Sea. This species, memberof
the family Mazocraeidae, was isolated from the gills.
The number of infected fish was 20 fish out of 50 sampled fish; withprevalence of
40% and Intensity of 5 parasite/ Fish.
The goal of this study is to compare three bony structures in order to choose the best method for the age determination of Chondrostoma regium inhabiting the Tishreen Reservior (Euphrates River). So, 214 individuals were collected between 15/7/2011 a
nd 15/5/2012 using appropriate gill nets. Scales, vertebrae and operculum were independently used by two readers to estimate the age. Mean ages were estimated for each bony structure-reader combination and the precision of age estimated from multiple readings was evaluated. Furthermore, the error of ageing was calculated.
The results showed that the fish ages were varied between (2-6), (3-6) and (2-5) years- judged by scales, vertebrae and operculum respectively.
Results also showed that vertebrae were the most reliable bony structure for estimating the ages of Chondrostoma regium as they had the highest agreement and the lowest ageing error.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of handling on the quality and safety
of Sea Bass, Dicentrarchus labrax. The samples were collected from the marine waters of
Tartous, and were traced from catch till arrival to consumers. Sensorial
and microbial
examinations during fish handling were done, and some physical and chemical
characteristics of waters in the fishing area were determined. The results
showed that the sensorial characteristics differed during fish handling and started to
decrease in the marketplace. The results also showed that the number of microorganisms
increased during fish handling and reached the highest level in the marketplace. This
increase was observed particularly in summer. The gills were the most infected part by
handling followed by the scales and then the eyes. The microbial results also showed the
presence of gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus Aureus, and gram negative
bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus sp., Salmonella spp., Shigella sp., Pseudomonas
spp.. The market was the most infecting with these microbes.
This work was designed to investigate the effect of temperature of frozen storage and
its duration on some chemical properties (Protein, Ash, Moisture,Lipid) of fishes Rabbit
fish (Siganus rivulatus). The fishes were subjected (from one weak to 150 day) of frozen
storage at two different degrees of low temperatures (-18 C,-24 C).
