The approximate composition (moisture, protein, fat, ash), the content of heavy metals ( lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury) wre determined for twenty sample of Pangasius hypophthalmus frozen fillets , fish samples collected from ten different areas in the city of Damascus varying in price , country origin and date of production during the period between january -july of 2016.

This study was conducted to identify the levels of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury, nickel, copper, iron, zinc) in the following processed local and imported meat: Sardine (canned full), Tuna (canned chunks), Hammour (frozen full), Euphrates Fis h (frozen full), fish produced at Qattinah Lake in Syria (frozen full) , lamb (frozen ground), beef (frozen ground), lamb sausage (frozen full), beef sausage (frozen full), sausageproduced in Netherlands (frozen stuffed), lamb liver (frozen full), broiler chicken liver (frozen full), broiler chicken (frozen full), chicken mortadella (canned), beef mortadella (canned), chicken mortadella (canned) produced in Netherlands. Heavy metal concentrations were identified in the samples of the studied meat by atomic absorption spectrometer. The concentrations taken in the wet weight measured in (ppm) were as follows: lead values range between (0.1–5.61),cadmium(0.01–2.02), mercury (0.14 –79.01), nickel (0.11 - 0.82), copper (0.24 – 6.89), iron (1.01 - 91.03), zinc (8.14 - 45.5). It was noticed that in some of the studied samples of the imported and locally-processed meat the levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, and nickel were above the levels permitted by WHO (World Health Organization) and by FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization). While the concentrations of copper, iron, and zincwere belowthelevels permitted.
The aim of the study is to determine the concentration of some heavy metals in some imported tattoo inks (black and colored). Sold in Homs, Tartous, Ybroud and DeirAtieh, and assess whether tattoo inks comply with maximum concentrations of heavy m etals in the EPA’s guid line -2012 and find out the relation of colours by Ni, Cu, Pb, Cd and Cr contents. 18 Samples of tattoo inks purchased from different sources. 5 Samples black, 4 samples green, 5 samples red, 2 samples brown,1 sample white and 1 sample oily. This samples reveals that the concentration of heavy metals previously mentioned very high and varies depending on the source of the tattoo ink. These concentrations above the maximum limits according to the EPA’s-2012 quid line. This study reveals also that the type of pigment used in tattoo inks contributes to its heavy metal content. The use of tattoo inks could result increase in the heavy metal level in human body which could lead to health problems.
This study deals with identifying some heavy metals (Pb,Zn,Ni) concentration in the recycledsewage in Latakia Countryside which is resulting from three treatment plants distributed over (Hebbeit, Al-Harah, MarjMoairban),2011.This research uses the El ectro Thermal Atomization-Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (ETA-AAS) technique in determining of heavy metal elements mentioned above. This research shows a higher concentration of Zn-element (2.798 mg/L) in all treatment plants and in all seasons compared with the concentration of other elements, while Ni and Pb have recorded low concentrations (0.351, 0.243) mg/ℓ, respectively. The statistical study has demonstrated that there is a correlation varying from positive high to positive low, and sometimes to negative highs and lows, this gives clear indications for resources of pollution.
This study has been conducted to identify the levels of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, nickel, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc) in the following spices: Nutmeg, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nigella sativa, black pepper, cumin, coriander, curry, and mixed spices.
This research focuses on determining elemental concentrations of copper and lead (Cu &pb) in the muscles and liver Boops boops kind of the estuary of the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River and the fishing port and the promenade using atomic absorption tech nique. The results showed a significant increase in the concentrations of lead during summer 2014 in each of the muscle tissue and the liver of the fish examined (28.28ppm& 4.48ppm, respectively) at the mouth of the estuary of the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River and the fishing port and the promenade (11.19ppm& 3.75ppm, respectively), and this could be due to the different nature of human activities and sources of pollution to this element between the two regions. The results showed a marked seasonal change in the concentration of copper within the liver tissue of fish studied, where the highest concentration in the fishing port and the promenade( 5630.02 ppm) in autumn 2014, the Supreme( 3402.27ppm) value in the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River the estuary of summer. While the results did not show the variable in concentrations of copper in muscle . Theconcentrations were comparable between the two stations somewhat, with the highest concentrations in the summer in Bouth the fishing port and the promenade 1497.70ppm) and(1107.91 ppm) the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River. Results indicate that the accumulation of the studied elements (Cu &pb) in the liver compared to muscle (and the reason is boiled physiological differences in the functions of each of the two members) and to the existence of a good correlation between the concentration in the muscle changes with the typical length of which points to increased accumulation of these elements in these fish with increased growth,Noting the high concentration of the studied elements in females more than those recorded in males.
