Assessment of Nursing Staff 's Information about the Diet for Type II Diabetes Patients

يعتبر الداء السكري من أكثر التحديات الصحية في العالم في القرن الواحد والعشرين، ويمكن لاتّباع نظام غذائي صحيّ وتغيير العادات الغذائية السيئة أن يساعد على الوقاية من هذا المرض وعلاجه؛ وتعتبر معلومات الكادر التمريضي حول الحمية الغذائية لمرضى الداء السكري النمط II مفتاح الخطة العلاجية وخاصة لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من اختلاطات متقدمة، ولتقييم تلك المعلومات أجريت الدراسة الوصفية الحالية على عينة متاحة قوامها 50 ممرض/ة من العاملين في مستشفى تشرين الجامعي، وأظهرت نتائجها أن لدى (80%) من الممرضين المشاركين في الدراسة مستوى جيد من المعلومات المرتبطة بالحمية الغذائية لمرضى الداء السكري النمط II، وأن لدى (14%) منهم مستوى متوسط من المعلومات المرتبطة بتلك الحمية، ولدى (6%) منهم مستوى ضعيف من المعلومات، وقد أوصى الباحث بالعمل على التحديث المنتظم والمستمر للمبادئ التوجيهية القائمة على الأدلة الخاصة بالحمية الغذائية الخاصة بالداء السكري، لتكون معيناً لمقدمي الرعاية الصحية المعنيين بتقديم الخدمات الصحية لمرضى الداء السكري.

Diabetes is one of the most important health challenges in the world in the twenty-first century, and a healthy diet and changing bad eating habits can help prevent and treat this disease. The information of the nursing staff about the diet for type II diabetics is important to the treatment plan, especially in patients who suffer from advanced complications. To assessment this information, the current descriptive study conducted on an convenient sample of 50 working nurses in Tishreen University Hospital, which showed that (80%) of the nurses have a good level of information related to the diet of type II diabetics patients, (14%) of them have a moderate level of information, and (6%) of them have a poor level of information, and the researcher recommended working on regular and continuous updating of the evidence-based guidelines for the diabetes diet to help the health care providers concerned with providing health services to patients with diabetes.
