3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid is one of phenolic compounds that exists in olive mill waste water (OMWW) and different industrial wastewater.Commercially activated charcoal was studied as absorbent of polyphenols. The value of specific surface area was 73
6.7189 m2/g. Equilibriums of 3,4-dihyroxybenzoic acid from aqueous solutions on four different particle sizes of the adsorbent with diameters ranged A(1000-2000), B(500-1000), C(250-500), D(125-250)m was examined at different initial concentrations ofabsorbate. The experimental data were analyzed using the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. Both the isotherm models fit the adsorption data. Monolayer absorption capacities Q0 calculated from Langmuir equation were (0.36, 0.23, 0.34, 0.35mmol/g) for the different granular activated carbon sizes (A,B,C,D) respectively. The values of constant Kf calculated from Freundlich equation were (0.75, 0.61, 0.76, 0.79mmol/g) for the four sizes of granular activated carbon (A,B,C,D) respectively.
The results show that the charcoal activated carbon can be used as absorbent for polyphenol compounds.
The research aims to study the economic efficiency of olive mill wastewater
(OMWW) use in fertilizing olive trees, Which included research sample / 294 / farmer in
Lattakia Governorate, depending on the descriptive analytical method,And found the
results to be to fertilize the olive trees with (OMWW) rents high productivity, Where it
posted a net profit of (33,668) SP / acre / year, while gross margin stood at (61 235) SP ,
The coefficient of profitability compared to the cost of production (about 41.32%)%, while
the profitability coefficient was compared to the capital invested approximately 42.98%.
A research was carried out at Al-Sanouber research station in
Lattakia in 2013/2014 season ,The research included six treatments
with four replicates for each treatment. Six treatments used of
OMWW (0 , 10 , 20 , 30 , 40 , 50) l/m2. The OMWW has b
een
added 40 days before planting. Samples of soil have been taken
before adding OMWW, then after one and two months from
planting, and at the end of the season in order to make some
physical and chemical analysis and also to know the concentration
of some micro elements .
In this study, we review the possibility of production both ethanol and methanol from
OMW(OMW: Olive Mill Wastewater), fermented using pathogenic bacteria and isolated
marine bacteria. The results showed that when using Salmonella sp. bacteria, the
highest
values of methanol (5658.308 μg /l) appear at 7.5% concentration of the OMW, and the
higher concentration of ethanol (49.132 μg/l) at a concentration of 17.5% fermentation of
OMW. While Pseudomonas sp. produced the highest concentration of methanol (603.76μ
g/l) and ethanol (688.71μg /l) at 17.5% for OMW.
The results of this research showedthe ability of the bacteria isolated from sea water
in producing the above mentioned alcohols; for example the X3 bacteria displayed a direct
correlation between high concentrations of OMW (15 , 35 , 50)% and the high
concentrations of produced methanol (UL, 130.406μg/l, 1353.244μg/l ), apposite to
ethanol which was under the detection limits (under limited: UL).
This study aimed to study the accumulative abilities Ricnius Communis & Phragmites Communis for lead and cadmium. This plants are native near the RMAILAH river in JABLAH city.
The plants samples were collected from leafs, wood, and bark for plant sp
ecies, the soil samples were taken at (0-20)cm depth. Concentration of heavy metals were determined in soils and plants with "Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer"
Our results showed that the amounts of pb in the soil samples were 61.89ppm. The concentrations of lead pb in the parts of Ricnius Communis range between 4.3 to 5.81ppm; in the parts of Phragmites Communis range between 1.46 to 2.32ppm. According to statistics analysis Ricnius leaves surpass Ricnius wood and bark with accumulate lead; and Ricnius surpass Phragmites with accumulate lead too.
Our results showed that the amounts of cd in the soil samples were 3.081ppm. The concentrations of Cd in the parts of Ricnius Communis range between 0.031 to 0.061ppm; in the parts of Phragmites Communis range between 0.031-0.055ppm. According to statistics analysis there is no moral differences between Ricnius and Phragmites with accumulate cadmium.
