Cauliflower silicified geodes within Slunfeh Formation of upper cretaceous were described. Mid-range infrared spectroscopy FTIR was used for determination of mineral composition of these geodes. Polarized light microscope was used for the study of thin sections taken from inner parts of geodes in order to determine their crystal habits. The results showed that geodes of studied formation consists of silicon in form of amorphous to cryptocrystalline opal, chalcedony of micro-crystalline fibrous radial structure, hexagonal prismatic quartz, radial quartz, zoned quartz and mosaic quartz.

This study was conducted in 2013 in Kassab and Alraboa locations that is located in the province of Latakia, where carried out with the aim of rounds field inventory and characterization of types of local apples deployed in this locations. Was to d etermine which of five local types for apples are: Brobory and Sokary and Cherkhoshy and Malaky and JbakJian, and the outcome of the analysis of variance at the level / 5% / virtual studied for recipes of (17) characters for the leaves, blossoms, fruit and seed. These types showed clear differences formality between each other, in addition to the significant differences in terms of the content of total sugar, acidity, total soluble solids and the percentage of vitamin C, by calculating the degree of similarity between these types have found a higher degree of similarity was between the types Cherkhoshy and Jbak Jian(41.17)% , and the least was between Malaky and Sokary and between Sokary and Jbak Jian(5.88)% .
This study conducted at Deir Al-Hajar Station during the season 2010-2011 to describe the lactation curve of Shami cattle and determine factors affecting its shape compenents. 1120 records of 356 Shami cows collected between 1997 – 2010 were used. Data were subjected to general linear model, and the analysis of variance used to determine the effect of factors. Duncan test was used to compare the means using SAS system (1996) and Incomplete gamma functions were used to estimate the parameters of lactation curve (a, b and on the basis of daily yield of milk. Results indicated that the average values of the gamma parameters were 2.14 ± 0.01 kg for a (beginning of milking ), 0.61 ± 0.02 kg for b (increasing milk production up to peak) and - 0.23± 0.01 kg for c (decreasing milk production from peak to dry). The effect of calving year was significant (p<0.01) on a, and (p<0.05) on b and (p<0.001) on c. The effect of age at calving and sex of calf was significant (p<0.01) on a but non significant on b and c. Season of calving, parity, and interaction between age and parity was not significant on all parameters. It was concluded that improving the productive performance of Shami cattle, requires applying a long term genetic improvement program to select the best herd.
Functional foods are similar to conventional food and demonstrate beneficial effects beyond their nutritional value. These effects are attributed to the presence of functional ingredients. Functional ingredients can either be found naturally in a c ertain food or added to it. There’s a number of functional food products available in the market. For example, natural functional juices containing polyphenols. The aim of this study is to determine total phenolic content and antioxidant activity in some local functional juices. Total phenolic content was determined according to Folin- Ciocalteu method. The highest in content was mulberry juice, while the lowest was red grape juice. The best conditions for eliminating ascorbic acid were also determined which were heating for 30 min at 75°C. Antioxidant activity was subsequently determined using potassium ferricyanide. The highest in phenolic content among the studied juices were the highest in antioxidant activity. Thus a strong correlation was found between total phenolic content and antioxidant activity.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, researchers have isolated and dentified spreaded and adapted yeasts to variow environmental conditions and the types of the mediums in which they graw. The industrial features of the isolated genera, e specially those used in the food processing and the stability of their genetic characteristics were studied. Yeasts in medical and industrial fields were also improved.
The research had been implemented in Daher Al Kheribat stand in Jableh area in Syria in 2014- 2015 with the aim to inventory and characterize the herbal vegetation cover. Four sites were chosen in the stand. We adopted Parker method to estimate the plant coverage and relative coverage, and the method of squares was adopted to estimate the intensity and frequency. Plant samples were collected from the stand and dried and then classified based on Flora available. 42 species were registered belonging to 35 genuses distributed in 16 families. The number of plant species palatable was higher than the number of plant species unpalatable. Bromus squarrosus L. recorded the highest relative importance (28.3%), followed by Alopecurus urticulatus Banks & Sol (15.1%) then Euphorbia helioscopia L. (9.0%), The Bromus squarrosus L plant and the Alopecurus urticulatus Banks & Sol are good pastoral while the Euphorbia helioscopia L. plant is worthless pastoral.
