The Master's stage has its importance in development and intellectual building. However, in the process of applying for Master's studies, applicants must pass the English Admission Test. When doing this test, master's students encounter difficulties in the area of everyday English. This research deals with the difficulties that master's students may face in the area of everyday or spoken English. It is from the perspective of a sample of students doing a language course that can help them do the final English admission test at the Higher Institute of languages, Tishreen University. In order to achieve this goal, a questionnaire has been designed to investigate into difficulties faced by those students in the area of everyday English. After conducting the study and analysis, the research arrived at the following results: 1- Master's students doing the English admission test suffer from difficulties in idioms, the way they are written, and their use. Furthermore, there are problems with understanding English conversations. 2- There are no varieties with statistical significance in the area of everyday English according to the sample of students in regard to the variables of gender and age. 3- Among the views of the sample of students, there exists no relation at a significance in everyday English that can be attributed to the variable of the stage of English acquisition.

The purpose of the research The degree of practicing English teachers in Damascus is based on the skills of scientific thinking in their classrooms, as well as the differences in the degree of practicing these skills according to gender variables a nd the number of years of teaching experience. The sample consisted of (62) teachers, They were chosen by the sample of the sample from the schools in Damascus city and applied the measure of scientific thinking skills prepared by the researcher after verifying his sincerity and stability. The results indicated that: 1. The existence of a generally low degree in English teachers in the degree of exercise of the skills of scientific thinking in their classrooms, and the degree of practice of English teachers of the skills of scientific thinking subsidiary was as follows: - A high degree of teachers in the exercise of the skill of scientific thinking related to (gathering information). - A medium degree for teachers in the exercise of scientific thinking skills related to (concentration - memory - organization - analysis). - Low degree of teachers in the exercise of scientific thinking skills related to (obstetrics). - Very low degree of teachers in the exercise of scientific thinking skills related to (evaluation - integration). 2 - There are no statistically significant differences in the average grade of English teachers in the degree of practicing the skills of scientific thinking in their classes according to the gender variable. 3- There are statistically significant differences in the average grade of English teachers in the exercise of scientific thinking skills on the total score of the scale and its sub-fields according to the variable number of years of teaching experience for teachers with higher teaching experience except for the following fields (concentration skill / information gathering / analysis / integration / Evaluation), where differences were not statistically significant.
The ultimate goal of this study is to enhance the cultural competence of the Syrian students at both the school and university phases throughout the teaching of English. The first part of this study provides what many researchers think about the ro les of the textbook and the teacher in strengthening the relationship between the learner and his/her own culture and/or the other cultures including the target culture. In the second part of this study, an analysis from a cultural perspective of the Syrian context is provided. The aim of the research has aimed to identify the extent of the implementation of the strategy of mental maps in English teachers in Damascus governorate. In addition, it has aimed to identify the differences between the average grades of teachers in the application of the strategy of mental maps according to the variables (type of education and qualification). The survey has been applied on the second cycle of Basic Education in ( 2016-2017) . The questinnaire of mental maps has been applied to them , which is prepared by the researcher . -The research concluded the following results: - Implementation of the strategy of mental maps of English teachers in the schools of the second cycle of basic education was a medium degree. - There are statistically significant differences between the average grade of English teachers in the second cycle schools of the basic education level on the extent to which mental maps are applied according to the type of education variable in favor of special education. - There are statistically significant differences between the average grade of English teachers in the second cycle schools of the basic education level on the extent of applying mental maps strategy according to the variable of scientific qualification for teachers with the highest qualifications.
This paper investigates the syntactic type of ambiguity. It provides background information concerning various principles related to ambiguity on the syntactic level. This study also aims to shed light on the possible cases where Arab learners of English lack the ability to comprehend certain syntactically ambiguous constructions. It also discusses each kind of syntactic ambiguity according to the syntactic form it takes. In addition, this paper explores the several sources of syntactic ambiguity. Recently, many studies have been conducted to disambiguate ambiguous constructions. This paper provides some theoretical issues that many linguists have posed in order to tackle the phenomenon of ambiguity in syntax.
The research aimed to identifying the relationship between the creative thinking strategies and enhancing the competitive advantage in Tishreen university. By identifying the extent of the impact of each dimensions of creative thinking strategies a nd the methods used to implement these strategies on the human resource characteristic and distinctive competencies. The researcher relied on the Deductive Approach and on the descriptive approach as a general method. She has distributed the questionnaire to 350 people, they are members of the teaching staff and the heads of section, who work in Tishreen university. This study has concluded to several results, the most important one was that there were significant relationship between creative thinking strategies and enhancing the competitive advantages. But this relationship is weak, because of the weakness of training programs, especially in the field of creative thinking. The researcher reviewed many important results at the end of this research, and also presented several proposals and recommendations, and the most important of it was: the need of the university to conduct training courses for their employees, especially for development creative thinking skills, and definite their employees to the important of using creative thinking strategies in their work, in order to develop their skills and knowledge as the reflect on the develop of their performance, and enhance the competitive advantages.
