This paper investigates the syntactic type of ambiguity. It provides
background information concerning various principles related to
ambiguity on the syntactic level. This study also aims to shed light
on the possible cases where Arab learners of
English lack the ability
to comprehend certain syntactically ambiguous constructions. It also
discusses each kind of syntactic ambiguity according to the
syntactic form it takes. In addition, this paper explores the several
sources of syntactic ambiguity.
Recently, many studies have been conducted to disambiguate
ambiguous constructions. This paper provides some theoretical
issues that many linguists have posed in order to tackle the
phenomenon of ambiguity in syntax.
This research is concerned with the issue of Viola's – the
heroine - disguise in Twelfth Night. This young woman, who
has closed the sad chapters of her life, decides to begin a new
life, as if she had not known desperation by disguising as a
you
ng man named ''Cesario''. In this play, we notice that
disguise turns from a simple device to a complicated one.
At the beginning, Viola's aim is to protect herself in a country
where she knows no one. But later, disguise comes to mean
more than this. Cesario begins to dominate Viola, the
characters and the play. He teaches everyone lessons in life
about true love, faithfulness, sacrifice for the happiness of the
others, and selflessness. Also, he removes the false masks of
the others. Sebastian's appearance gives Viola the strength to
admit, before all people, her real identity. This is what helps
to solve a lot of ambiguity and questions for us and the
characters. Viola's strength does not lie in her disguise as
a man but in the way that she uses disguise and directs it.
The normal Costas frequencies code sequence signal is very well known and important signal in pulse compression Radar. In this paper we present two algorithms to modify Costas sequence by arranging the frequencies of Costas signal in time, first usin
g
binary Costas array and second using Golomb Ruler. These methods enable us to control side-lobes and to improve Doppler frequency resolution of Ambiguity Function (AF).
At first we present the principle of these methods Golomb Ruler and Costas array.
Then we apply these two methods to normal Costas signal, modified Costas signal and step frequency modulation and calculate the AF for all.
The results of comparison have shown that considerable reduction of side-lobes of AF is achieved by using these two methods, and consequently an improvement of AF is obtained.
