This study aimed at determining some indicators of water quality in Lattakia dams within ten years (2002-2011).The indicators(pH, Electrical conductivity,Total Hardness, ca Hardness, Mg Hardness, Alkalinity, Phenol Alkalinity) in five dams (Balloran, 16 Tishreen, Al-thawra, Al-safarkia and Al-hweez) were studied. The resultsshowed thatpH, Electrical conductivity,Total Hardness, Alkalinity, Phenol Alkalinity, were within the allowed limits according to Syrian standards for drinking and irrigation water and which indicate the presence of pollution water sources.

The big value of dams in the Syrian coast comes from using them for irrigation and sometimes as source of potable water. This study aimed to determine some chemical indicators of water quality in Lattakia dams during ten years (2002-2011). The conce ntrations of ions (Cl-1, SO4-2, NO2-1, NO3-1, PO4-3, K+1, Na+1) in five dams (Balloran, 16 Tishreen, Al-thawra, Alsafarkia and Alhweez) were studied. The results indicated that most of the ions showed significant difference in concentrations during 2002-2011.The ions concentrations in most studied dams increased. The increase related to characteristics of dams (location, capacity, the activities located around the dam…).
Water sources in Syrian coastal area have a great importance due to the variety of the sources and the urgent needs to water for drinking and irrigation. Therefore great efforts are made to protect water sources from contaminants. This research aim ed to study some contaminant indicators in some drinking water sources in the Syrian coastal area. The study included determining the concentrations of nitrates, nitrites and some heavy metals including lead, cadmium and zinc in water samples taken from five sources of water distributed from north Lattakia to north Tartous. The results showed that the concentrations of nitrate, nitrite and heavy metals differ depending on the water source. However, all these concentrations were lower and within the acceptable limits of Syrian standard for drinking water. The study concluded that water resources in the coastal area are distinguished with their relative purity and contaminants little reach.
Architectural design process is relatively complex considered due to the different content with users difference, therefore, each design has its own advantages that are difficult to standardize the process, as some have seen as architectural design that is a process of producing a one-time, making it difficult architectural design quality measurement result of not atypical The criteria used. Architectural design will be addressed as a result of a series of decisions on the key aspects that make up the elements of quality in design and that it must work to improve the quality of any design process. The research presents a theoretical study on the global architectural design used for quality assessment tools (eg DQI, DEEP, AEDET, HQI, LEED, BREEAM, BQA) to see the certified quality standards in each tool as a step towards the formation of a general framework for the concept of the architectural design of residential buildings quality of during a field study of the standards derived to determine the architectural design standards for residential buildings in Latakia The research found a set of standards governing the quality of the architectural design of residential buildings in Lattakia.
This research was carried out during 2014 - 2015. The research aimd to describe some chemical characteristics of the river's water used for irrigation, chemically compare it with the Syrian Standards Specifications in terms of salt quantity and qua lity and Cd and B concentrations, water samples were taken from four observation points along the river: A (domestic), B (industrial), C (mixed) and D (estuary), also Soil samples from the river edges were also analyzed. The findings revealed that the EC value in B was 0.61 mg/l i.e. less than those of others, with significant difference 0.72, 0.74, 0.73 mg/l, respectively. The study also showed a significant increase in B and C concentration by 0.48 and 0.49 mg/l, respectively, compared with A and D by 0.4 mg/l each. A significant increase in Cd concentration was noticed for B, C and D by 0.73, 0.88 and 0.75 mg/l vs. A 0.67 mg/l. However, Cd concentration in the river water in all seasons and sites was excessive and higher than the permissible limit for water discharge into seas estimated at 0.05 mg/l, whereas the other parameters were lower than the permissible limits according to the Syrian Standards. The effect of water pollution on soil showed a significant increase in EC for B by 1.01 dS/m than others. The increase was also more significant in subsurface layer than surface one by 0.45 and 0.62 dS/m, respectively. In addition, the findings demonstrated a significant increase in Cd for C (2.67 mg/kg) than other points. The increase in Cd concentration was more significant in the surface layer (2.648 mg/kg) than the subsurface one (2.631 mg/kg), and this concentration was lower than the normal range of soil content from Cd (3 ppm).
This research focuses on determining elemental concentrations of copper and lead (Cu &pb) in the muscles and liver Boops boops kind of the estuary of the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River and the fishing port and the promenade using atomic absorption tech nique. The results showed a significant increase in the concentrations of lead during summer 2014 in each of the muscle tissue and the liver of the fish examined (28.28ppm& 4.48ppm, respectively) at the mouth of the estuary of the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River and the fishing port and the promenade (11.19ppm& 3.75ppm, respectively), and this could be due to the different nature of human activities and sources of pollution to this element between the two regions. The results showed a marked seasonal change in the concentration of copper within the liver tissue of fish studied, where the highest concentration in the fishing port and the promenade( 5630.02 ppm) in autumn 2014, the Supreme( 3402.27ppm) value in the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River the estuary of summer. While the results did not show the variable in concentrations of copper in muscle . Theconcentrations were comparable between the two stations somewhat, with the highest concentrations in the summer in Bouth the fishing port and the promenade 1497.70ppm) and(1107.91 ppm) the AL Kabeer Alshemaly River. Results indicate that the accumulation of the studied elements (Cu &pb) in the liver compared to muscle (and the reason is boiled physiological differences in the functions of each of the two members) and to the existence of a good correlation between the concentration in the muscle changes with the typical length of which points to increased accumulation of these elements in these fish with increased growth,Noting the high concentration of the studied elements in females more than those recorded in males.
