Batteries are energy storage devices that are particularly useful for powering
small portable devices like phones, laptops and entertainment devices as well as
mobility devices that travel over the earth's surface, through water and air. During the
night, or during a period of low solar irradiation, energy is supplied to the load from
the battery in solar electrical Power Systems, and that provides Continuity of power
supply, and on the other hand boosts the Reliability of the system.
The eco-tourism is an important element in the economic and social development at
the both local and international levels. It represent an essential economic resource for the
governmental sector, so this research particularly important because it i
s looking for the
possibility of using GIS techniques in the protected areas management. The objective of
this study is to verify the GIS importance in creating data-base which is significant for
Naby Matta protected area managers; this data-base is basically helping in the development
of the ecotourism. The results of research confirmed the importance of geographic
information systems in designing of database and the various maps and its role in
determining the steps tourism development such as determining the places of assimilation
and classify it according of the visitors density, select the better tracks for pedestrians, the
appointment of entry points and restaurants, observation points, in addition to the
investment potential of geographic information systems in spatial analysis such as
proximity and distance analysis of particular point from another point, or search for a
particular tourist attraction and find it such as searching for the best spots to enjoy the
picturesque scenery away from sensitive environmental housing thus saving time and
effort and speed in the service of visitors.
This research focuses on optimising the traffic control at ( Al-
TARBYA) signalised intersection in Homs city to improve its
capacity and the Level Of Service (LOS).
The importance of this research comes from analysing the
movement of vehicles, p
edestrians, the intersection geometry, signal
phasing plan on the intersection, and referring to some problems
affects the intersection in order to get the best improvement to
traffic movement at the aforementioned intersection.
This research offers assessment of the urban streets in Lattakia city center. These arterials
form main traffic links between major regions. Therefore, Traffic improvement on these
streets will have great effect on improving level of service (LOS),
increasing speeds,
decreasing delay time, decreasing the emissions and traffic accidents.
This research was done on six streets surrounding Lattakia city center for defining LOS.
Floating vehicle was used in this study. Many trips were executed during free flow and
peak periods for measuring free flow speed, Travel time and average speed.
Every street was divided into many sections. This study uses field method and computation
method adopted by Highway Capacity Manual (HCM2000) for defining LOS on streets
and comparing results.
This study showed low values of LOS for most sections and it indicated deference between
field method and computation method. Also, it expressed the necessary to take suitable
procedures to increase LOS on these streets.
