The purpose of this study is to highlight on the ability of the alga Ulva fasciata to accumulate some organic pollutants (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons :PAHS, polychlorinated biphenyls: PCBs). The samples were collected from three sites at the Syr ian coast during 2011. The result of this study revealed the ability of alga to accumulate significantly the PAHs and their concentrations ranged from 30.52 to 72.7 ng/g dw, While the PCBs concentrations were less, it ranged between 6.00 and 24.01 ng/g dw. The highest concentration of PAHs was observed at the Dirasat site, while the highest concentration of the PCBs found at the Cornish of Jablah. The logarithm bioconcentration factors (log BCF) of the aromatic compounds with three aromatic rings were close to the logarithm octanol/water partitioning coefficients (log Kow ), unlike the compounds with higher rings, where log BCF were obviously less than corresponding log Kow. The log BCF values of PCBs increased with increasing chlorine atoms (2 - 6 atoms) , while no increasing was observed for components that contain 7 to 8 chlorine atoms
The aim of the study is repairing some partially damaged archeological wood and restoration it before being completely damaged. For achieving this aim, the radiation technology was used in preparing some polymer blends such as Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), Poly ethylene glycol (PEG), acrylic acid (AAC), and Acryl amid (AAm) to improving adhesion forces of polymer with wood and protecting it. The results show that the best mechanical properties was achieved by using Poly(vinyl) alcohol (PVA), acrylic acid (AAC), and acryl amid (AAm). Also, results show that by increasing the ratio of acrylic acid (AAC), the tensile strength, adhesion force, hardness, transparency, are increasing. The best tensile strength obtained was 4.79 MPa for polymer blends contains 18/% acrylic acid, 6% acryl amid, 12% poly (vinyl alcohol) when exposing to Ultra-Violet ray dose of 210 . Results, also showed that the exposing of wood to Ultra-Violet ray dose of 250 [Gry] was enough for doing sterilization, purification.
This paper presents a three phase shunt Active Power Filter (APF) for power quality improvements in terms of harmonics compensation. The compensation process is based on measure non-liner load currents and Active Filter currents, and then extract t he references from measured currents. Measured currents are then transferred from abc frame to d-q reference frame. A Synchronous Proportional Integral controller (Synchronous PI controller) is used. The control signals then drive the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) routine, where its output controls the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) switching devices. The performance of the Active Filter and the Synchronous PI controller is validated though the simulink results in MATLAB environment.
The Research aimed to use the technology of the fermentation to produce the biogas from the cow manure. The digester has benn carried according to the Indian model. The digester consit of one cylinerical tank with 9.42m3 volume (height 3m, diameter 2 m) and gastank with 6m3 (height 1m) and inlet pipe and outlet pipe. The study showed the following: The accumulated production of biogas was through the 30 days retention time 48m3. The heighest production was in the thirteenth day with 4.5m3. The farm became after the use of digester clean and with little insect and smell. With use 1m3 of biogas could we use one cooker for 2.5 hour and with the same quantity could we use one inner combustion diesel motor (90% biogas and 10% diesel) for half an hour. 3/4m3 from digester volume is enough for one cow with 12 kg manure daily. So we can design the suitable digester for any farm.
The research was aimed to study the effect of olive press methods on the oil quantity and quality. The results showed the following: The method of press Olive effect to the quantity of Olive oil so the results of oil quantity from olive fruite p ress in mechanical olive press method more above from half mechanical method and from traditional method ( the witness). The increase of quantity between mechanical and traditional method was 60% and between mechanical half mechanical method was 27% and bween half mechanical and traditional method was 28%. The method of press Olive effect to the of Olive oil quantitatively the results of oil quantitatively from olive fruit press in mechanical olive press machines to surpass half mechanical olive press that is the flavor and color best and Acidity presumption and peroccid number is less .
A random sample of the kinds of bread consumed in the coastal region during the years of research was taken, the percentage of fiber and protein was calculated, and the effect of the mixture approved on an annual basis in mills on purveyance flour content of fiber and protein was studied. The study showed the important role of the mixture, where the percentage of fiber increased from (1.06%) in 2009 to (1.61%) in 2010, and the percentage of protein increased also from (11.36%) in 2010 to (13.90%) in 2012. The results show that there are some, but not all, governmental mills which add soft bran fiber and protein-rich flour, taking into consideration the impact of technological processes applied throughout the stages of manufacturing bread, and in particular the stages of fermentation and broil.
The recent few decades have witnessed growing interest in the environment- friendly energy sources. Sea Wave Energy is considered as one of the energy sources in the countries that are located on the seas and oceans. However, this energy source, ga ined little interest in Syria compared to sun and wind sources. The aim of this research is to contribute to the body of research in this field, by developing and implementing an experimental model of an oscillating water column system, which converts sea wave energy into electrical energy. Additionally, the research uses a set of true and false experiments to study the impact of the technological variables of the system on its efficiency, hence on the number of rotation of its Wells turbine. The results were represented graphically, and recommendations and suggestions were provided for the possibility to apply this technology in Syria.
Search is based on the first stage DC/DC in the solar photovoltaic system, where it was appropriate to use Ripple Correlation Control method for tracking the maximum power point of photovoltaic arrays. The technique takes advantage of the signal ri pple, which is automatically present in power converters, where the ripple is interpreted as a perturbation from which a gradient ascent optimization can be realized. The Basic feature of Ripple Correlation Control technique converges asymptotically at maximum speed to the maximum power point, and has simple circuit implementations. And will validate the results in practice.
In this research study the effect of adding thermal cement as a filler on the properties of natural rubber STR20, through the preparation of natural rubber mixtures containing different ratios of thermal cement (0,5,10,15,20 pphr) on the rolling ru bber machine, then characterization physico-mechanical properties and chemical of mixtures that prepared and then tested to measure the tensile strength, resistance friction and determine the hardness and swelling values in different solvents. The results showed increased tensile strength with increased thermal cement ratio until 15( pphr) but after this percentage take tensile strength to decline gradually, where the relationship becomes counterproductive between the additives and the resistance ratio, as noted the low percentage of elongation at break gradually with increasing the proportion of thermal cement, as for the hardness values it has increased in extrusive with increase the proportion of thermal cement in mixtures, also observed a decrease in friction resistance with increase the additives proportion even (15 pphr) to rise after that. Results of the study also showed that the samples swelling in mineral oil was lower compared to all of the gasoline and diesel, the swelling was in the mineral oil 1.29%, while in gasoline was 14.15% and in diesel was 12.43%.
We study in this paper one of functional analysis problems, involved with construction a new class of functions, denoted by . The definition of the new class depends on definition of Lebesgueclass of functions and on the Holder clas . We study the relation between the new class and approximation of the new class to rational functions.
