This paper presents a three phase shunt Active Power Filter (APF) for power quality improvements in terms of harmonics compensation. The compensation process is based on measure non-liner load currents and Active Filter currents, and then extract the references from measured currents. Measured currents are then transferred from abc frame to d-q reference frame. A Synchronous Proportional Integral controller (Synchronous PI controller) is used. The control signals then drive the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) routine, where its output controls the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) switching devices. The performance of the Active Filter and the Synchronous PI controller is validated though the simulink results in MATLAB environment.

This paper treats the issue of wind energy storage, mechanically, using the flywheel device. We control the speed of the wind turbine and the flywheel by means of traditional PID controllers. These controllers are designed depending on the system m odel and its parameters. Speed control is achieved by electromagnetic rotor flux orientation as called vector control. Speed reference value of the wind turbine will be generated in order to track the maximum power point. The flywheel reference speed is generated based on a second order filter of power which is considered as a new contribution in this field of research. Frequency converters are not modeled but we only consider the control strategy. The results of modeling and simulation in Matlab satisfy the power smoothing issue and reflect the importance of this study.
This paper proposes a new approach to control a Shunt active filter (SAF) to eliminate harmonic currents and compensate reactive power , this approach called Predictive Direct Power Control (P-DPC) where the Direct Power Control is combined with a Predictive Control , PDC controls active and reactive power to get an unity power factor and when it combined with Predictive Control , the controller can predict future behavior for all possible voltage vectors , and the best vector is chosen for the next sample by minimizing a cost function . we connect this filter with a nonlinear load to the grid and simulate this systemusing Matlab , Simulink and Simpower , the results shows that P-DPC decrease Total Harmonic Distortion (THD%) of line current and make it sinusoidal and improve the power factor .
In this research, a research and educational tool for studying the sensitivity of the vehicle's suspension system to the properties and parameters of the suspension’s components is developed. This tool is a program that can study different models cre ated using the Matlab/Simulink software package with its various libraries. Different types of models can be analysed, such as differential equation models expressing a mathematical model, block diagrams, or state space models. The tool also enables students to identify the suspension’s components, and its basic design parameters, and choose these parameters. Researchers and students will be able to test their models in terms of response, overshoot, and sensitivity, when conducting simulations in different working conditions.
The present paper provides a mathematical dynamic modelling and analysis of a newly developed electrical power supply system for petrol cars. The main goal of this research work is to improve the economic operation of the car’s electric power supply aiming at fuel economy improvement and for less gases emission. The proposed scheme has been studied and investigated using MATLAB/SIMULINK(R) toolbox and C language. The dynamic behaviour of the proposed system has been analysed for two different driving cycles and the results showed a fuel economy improvement in the investigated two cases. It is shown that the proposed approach is very superior to the conventional one, which is widely used in most of public cars. However, it also shows very encouraging results in terms of fuel save and less gas emission. The main advantage of the method proposed is its applicability to any first or second hand low cost cars.
Novel rejected and passed band devices are obtained using techniques in two dimensional Photonic Band Gap microstrip structures. The microstrip is engraved in a PBG dielectric constituted of a via holes array and enclosed in a metallic box. The b oundary element method (BEM) and the fast wave concept iterative process (FWCIP) are combined to evaluate the characteristic of this structure.
