the aim of this study is to prove that laparoscopic approach in
experienced hands is the treatment
of choice for adrenal masses (up to 10 cm)
the study was conducted in Al Asad University
hospital between 2004-2006.By
reviewing the files of 22 p
atients with adrenal mass retrospectively and
prospectively all of them were done
laparoscopicaly except one case in which the operation was converted to
open approach .the variables that
considered in this study were the difficulty of the procsdure, time of surgery,
the ratio of conversion to the
classic approach (open adrenalectomy ^morbidity and mortality rates.
Several methods have been introduced to treat inflammatory
gingival enlargement including laser, electrocautery, and surgical
scalpel which is the standard method adopted. Recently, however,
ceramic bur has emerged as a simple and rapid tool for
gingivectomy
The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare gingivectomy
by using ceramic bur and traditional gingivectomy by using
surgical scalpel.
This study was executed at Al Assad hospital, Lattakia . is a retrospective study of ovarian mass patients who had been accepted in the department of gynecology during the period between 1/1/2009 and 31/12/2013 .The aim was to study age distribution
of benign and malignant tumors , and to study the relation between Ca125 and pre/postmenopausal benign and malignant tumors.
The study included 148 patients . The patients' ages ranged between 13-78 years , and the majority of benign tumors occurred in the age group 21- 40 years and the majority of malignant tumors occurred in the age group 51- 60 years .
The commonest tumors were epithelial in origin followed by the germ cell tumors followed by sex cord stromal tumors and metastatic tumors.
In benign tumorsCa125>=35u/ml was more frequently with endometriosis followed by serous tumors . and in malignant tumors was more frequently with serous tumors followed by mucinous tumors.
The highest sensitivity of ca125 level was in prediction postmenopausal benign tumors but with low specificity followed by prediction postmenopausal malignant tumors with high specificity.
The quality of the test was higher in postmenopausal benign/malignant tumors compared to premenopausal tumors
Learning representations of entities and relations in structured knowledge bases is an active area of research, with much emphasis placed on choosing the appropriate geometry to capture the hierarchical structures exploited in, for example, isa or ha
spart relations. Box embeddings (Vilnis et al., 2018; Li et al., 2019; Dasgupta et al., 2020), which represent concepts as n-dimensional hyperrectangles, are capable of embedding hierarchies when training on a subset of the transitive closure. In Patel et al., (2020), the authors demonstrate that only the transitive reduction is required and further extend box embeddings to capture joint hierarchies by augmenting the graph with new nodes. While it is possible to represent joint hierarchies with this method, the parameters for each hierarchy are decoupled, making generalization between hierarchies infeasible. In this work, we introduce a learned box-to-box transformation that respects the structure of each hierarchy. We demonstrate that this not only improves the capability of modeling cross-hierarchy compositional edges but is also capable of generalizing from a subset of the transitive reduction.
This paper presents work carried out to transform glosses of a fable in Italian Sign Language (LIS) into a text which is then read by a TTS synthesizer from an SSML modified version of the same text. Whereas many systems exist that generate sign lang
uage from a text, we decided to do the reverse operation and generate text from LIS. For that purpose we used a version of the fable The Tortoise and the Hare, signed and made available on Youtube by ALBA cooperativa sociale, which was annotated manually by second author for her master's thesis. In order to achieve our goal, we converted the multilayer glosses into linear Prolog terms to be fed to the generator. In the paper we focus on the main problems encountered in the transformation of the glosses into a semantically and pragmatically consistent representation. The main problems have been caused by the complexities of a text like a fable which requires coreference mechanisms and speech acts to be implemented in the representation which are often unexpressed and constitute implicit information.
