The Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus) produces numerous indole alkaloids, several of which have an important pharmaceutical uses such as ajmalicine. The relationship between hypoxia and ajmalicine production in a cell medium culture of Catharanthus roseus were investigated during the cycle of cell culture, as well as the growth in fresh and dry matter. The results show that the lack of oxygenation in C20D cells provokes a very strong inhibition in accumulation of the alkaloids and of other possible substances. This can be explained by the absence of some downstream enzymes involved in the biosynthesis chain of alkaloids or by the blockage of the upstream terpenes to the production stage. Reoxygenation did not restore hypoxia effect on the alkaloid accumulation. Moreover, the present study showed that the addition of the loganin in the 4th day, in the cell culture medium subjected to hypoxia restored the alkaloid production. Also, the results show that the BAP increases the ajmalicine production. The effect of hypoxia was not shown in the presence of cytokinine. The BAP can without doubt decrease the effects of the hypoxia and increases the ajmalicine production.

This investigation was carried out at Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Horticulture, University of Mosul, Iraq during 2012-2014) on Catharanthus roseus Variety; Nirvana Pink Blush, which is one of the important medicinal plant, containing a group of alkaloids. Parts of leaves, nodes, and internodes were cultured on MS medium supplemented with NAA for callus initiation, data were taken after 28-day results refer that highest weight of callus; 0.612g, 0.639g ,0.835g were obtained from cultivated parts of leaves, nodes and internodes on MS medium supplemented with 1.0mg/l NAA respectively. Callus was initiated and cultured using parts of leaves, nodes and internodes on MS medium supplemented with BA and 1.0 mg/l of NAA, after 50 days.
The goal of this research is to study the expression of epidermal and transforming growth factor receptor in normal human bone marrow (BM) cell, and in leukemia ( myeloid and lymphatic leukemia ) which promoted the research for the function of EGF R receptors in the development and growth of BM cells and for malignancies expressing of the EGFR as potential therapeutic targets in blood cell malignant diseases.
This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between estrogen depletion ,calcium-deficiency,and alveolar bone loss. Alveolar bone loss was evaluated by radiographic and visual inspection of rabbits with experimental lack of estrogen an d calcium. Twenty female local rabbits (4 months old) were divided into four groups :group a -ovariectomized and given a standard solid diet. Group b-ovariectomized and given a calcium – deficient diet Group c-sham-ovariectomized and given a standard solid diet. And group d-sham-ovariectomized and given a calcium-deficient diet after 8 weeks, the rabbits were sacrificed . The maxillae, mandibles, femurs, and tibias were removed carfully and fixed in 10% neutral buffered formalin. The bone mineral density of each bone and the alveolar bone loss were measured.the bone meniral densities of the maxillae, mandibles, femurs and tabias in group (c) were significantly higher than those in groups (b)and (d),but not higher than those in group a.however there were no significant differences between any of the groups with regard to alveolar bone loss from the cemento-enamel junction to the molar bone crest.
This study was conducted at the biotechnology laboratory of AnimalWealth Research Administration, General Commission for Agricultural Research in order to compare the effect of different media on In vitro maturation (oocytes matured at 39 C° under 5% CO2 for 24 h), fertilization، and culture (7 days postfertilization) in humidified atmosphere 95% on bovine embryo production.
The aim of the study was to study the ability of the leaves of the figs (Ficus retusa L.) and (Phoenix dactylifera L.) in the city of Tartous to accumulate the lead elements (Pb), nickel (Ni).
