A survey to record the genera of nematodes associated with chickpea of domestic variety, which are planting at Izra’a Research center in Dara’a Governorate, was carried out during the period from April 2003 till June 2003. Nematodes were extracted, examined and identified to genus. Population density, frequency (%), and prominence value (PV) were calculated for each genus of 40 samples were collected from the root rhizosphere soil and from plant roots itself. Results showed that eight genera of plant-parasitic nematodes, and seventeen genera of other nematode groups were associated with chikpea plants.

A field study has been carried out in order to know the important species belonging to the family Syrphidae Diptera . in some field in Ezraa & jellien of Daraa governorate during the period 1/3 /2003 till 30/8/2003 .
A survey was conducted to determine the frequency and mean densities of plant-parasitic nematodes associated with cotton crop (Gossypium hirsutum L.) after the harvesting season 2008 in Syria. Results showed that twelve genera of plant-parasitic n ematodes were found associated with cotton crop roots. The distribution of nematode genera varied between the Syrian governorates, Pratylenchus spp., Meloidogyne spp. and Rotylenchulus infect most cotton fields in all syrian governorates. The distribution was relatively uniform between the governorates. They occurred in 80.7%, 46.6% and 32.95%, respectively, of tested fields with an average density of 137.2, 59.6 and 574.3 juveniles/100 cm3 soil, respectively. meanwhile, the genus Tylenchorhynchus was found in central region only. Rotylenchulus was more prevalent in the heavier soils, but Meloidogyne. was not influenced by soil type. The other nematode genera detected in this survey were less frequent, their frequency of occurrence were for Hoplolaimus (19.3%), Scutellonema (31.8%), Tylenchorhynchus (31.8%), Helicotylenchus (30.7%), Rotylenchus (36.4%), Tylenchus (18.2%), Xiphinema (3.4%).
Afield survey of ckickpea chlorotic stunt virus (CPCSV) was conducted in some plantation areas in Lattakia province. A total of 252 samples were collected from plants showing chlorotic and stunting symptoms from 54 field. Results of Tissue Blot Immun obonding Assay has shown the presence of CPCSV in some plantation areas. The percentage of CPCSV varied in samples collected from fields, the highest percentage was 33.33% in Ras-elain aria and the lowest was 7.69% in Elbourjan aria.
Field survey was conducted to identify plant nematode genera associated with maize crop during the period August-October 2003. The study was carried out at two locations: Kharabo station (Damascus countryside) and Al-Mraieh station (Deir Al-zowr) in Syria. 36 complex samples were collected from roots and rhizosphere soil; nematodes were extracted by two methods Sieving and Baermann funnel, examined under microscope for identifi cation. Population density and absulute frequency for each genera were calculated. Results of field survey showed the presence of 14 genera of plant parasitic, 4 fungivorous, and 12 omnivorous nematodes in maize roots and rhizosphere soil .
The research aimed at determining the effect of work team size (number of members per team) on the effectiveness of teams working at the Scientific Agricultural Research Center (SARC) in Lattakia. This is in addition to determining the best team si ze for these teams. The study used the T7 Model, a questionnaire used for measuring work team effectiveness. The questionnaire was distributed on to 190 members who constituted 44 teams. The 44 teams were the study sample chosen from the whole research community which constituted the work teams in (SARC) The study revealed a number of results of which are the following: there is a significant negative correlation between team size and all the internal factors affecting effectiveness, together with significant differences between the effectiveness of small teams and big teams. However, there is no correlation between team size and the external factors affecting team effectiveness.
