The compatibility between the varieties and the percentage of budding success and the vigor and vegetative growth of these varieties were studied. The plants growth was monitored and all the required readings were taken from the beginning of budding at the end of summer until the end of the next growth season.

Peach (Prunus persica Batsch) transplants cv. Dixired were sprayed three times a season with three levels of urea (45% N) (2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 gm/ L), and two levels of iron (10 and 20 mg Fe/ L) using chelated iron Fe-EDDHA (6%iron), each alone or in combination. Meanwhile the control transplants sprayed with distilled water during 2006 and 2007 growing seasons, twenty days intervals between each spray and another, the first spray is done at the first week of May in both seasons. Results indicated that all spray treatments with urea and iron each alone or with each other significantly increased leaves N, K, Fe, chlorophyll and carbohydrate concentration, transplant leaves area, shoots number, transplants height, main stem diameter and vegetative and root dry weight. While leaves P concentration, significantly decreased with the foliar spray with two concentrations of iron alone, or in combination with all concentrations of urea. The best treatment was 7.5 gm urea/ L + 20 mg Fe/ L., which gave the highest means of all studied parameters, except leaves P concentration, which were the highest mean of it was in the control treatment at both seasons.
This investigation was carried out in the fields and laboratories of Pome and Grapevine Department, GCSAR/Syria, on some apple varieties i.e. Richared, Mutsu and Tourly Winsap to determine the optimal harvest date and its effect on storability. Fr uits were harvested in (16/9, 26/9, 7/10, 17/10 and 30/10) depending on physical and chemical maturity indicators, and stored with the study of changing in quality indicators and weight lost monthly. The results showed that the studied varieties differed in their storability according to harvest date, Richared fruits in 26/9 showed long storage for seven months with weight loss of 4.9%, fruit firmness 6.4 kg/cm2, and 18.7% TSS. While the storability was six months for Mutsu fruits which harvested in 7/10 with weight loss of 4.4%, and fruit firmness 6.1 kg/cm2, and finally, Tourly Winsap fruits which were stored for five months in 7 and 17/10 harvest dates with fruit firmness 5.1 kg/cm2. Moreover, the three varieties were able to storage for three months when harvested in 30/10 with weight loss of 3.3%, 4.4% and 4.5% in Tourly Winsap, Richared and Mutsu respectively, which considered as consuming maturity for these varieties. These results indicated to the various storage periods according to fruits harvest time, and the storability, which assists in regulating offer and demand, and providing markets with fruits for long period, however harvesting at optimal time reducing the total weight loss, in addition to high quality indicators.
The Peach flatheaded rootborder Capnodis sp. is the most important insect which attack stone-fruits in Syria, Entomopathogenic fungi Metarrhizium sp. and Paecilomyces sp. were isolated from larvae of Capnodis tenebrionis (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) attacking peach. This study was conducted to reveal the pathogenicity of the two fungies against the neonate larvae of Peach flatheaded rootborder, The two fungies were used in a concentration 106 conidia/ml, dipping the larvae in fungal suspension ,then it was put in apricot branches by approximately 1 cm diameter, and mortality rates two weeks after inoculation with the suspension of each of the fungi was 95% for Metarrhizium sp. and 85% for Paecilomyces sp.
The research studied the compatibility of grafting on the pistachio variety of Ashouri with three rootstocks (P. vera, P. Atlantica and P. Khinjuk). This research was implemented in the nursery of the agricultural department in Hama. The seedling rootstocks were budded in plastic bags at the beginning of June by T-budding. The results demonstrated that the variety of Ashouri which budded on the Ashouri and P. Khinjuk rootstocks excelled at the p. Atlantica rootstocks, The best average of succeeded graft of Ashouri variety budded on the Ashouri and P. Khinjuk rootstocks reached (73, 69.5 %). While the growth of p. Atlantica and P. Khinjuk rootstocks were stronger than Ashouri rootstocks. The length of Ashouri variety which budded on P. Atlantica and P. Khinjuk rootstocks was (47.36, 49.88 cm), and the diameter was (5.59, 5.67 mm).
