The study was conducted during 2012-2013 to determine the impact of the microfinance program of the Rural Community Development Project in improving the performance of Awassi sheep of smallholders and their income in the region of Jabal al-Hoss – Aleppo. 215 of Awassi sheep breeders who had benefited from the microfinance Sanduqe at least twice during 2007 - 2010 and 56 of non beneficiary - breeders (control sample) were selected randomly basing on database available in the project. The finance had also contributed significantly in reducing the average total cost of the disease in flocks of beneficiaries, contributed to increase the herd size by about 36.8, in the level of access to veterinary services by about 21%, in coverage the daily consumption by12.6% and an increase in labor running at about 4.5%. Financial and non-financial services helped to improve the average milk productivity of beneficial flocks by about 20.5 kg/ season / head which reflected positively to increase the annual income of beneficiaries by 8000 Syrian Pounds.

This paper presented an analysis of the most important factors that drive immigrants from the area of Jabal al-Hoss in the province of Aleppo to different directions searched for employment and how they affect migration destination and the nature of the work on the amount of migrant remittances to his family. The research also highlighted the importance of individual characteristics, family and community of immigrants, especially since the study area was considered one of the dry and marginal areas in Syria, poor in natural and human resources using the methods of econometric analysis (models logistic regression and multiple regressions). Results showed that the probability of migration out of Syria was getting the male immigrants and individuals younger and more educated and those who were descended from the family even poorer, and the largest number, also found that the likelihood of working immigrant in the agricultural sector increased immigrants from females, and those with a low educational level. There was also an evidence that the amount of remittances sent to families of migrants increased if migrant worked in non-agricultural sector, and as the family was much poorer and more numerous.

The results showed that the funding provided by the National Microfinance Institution did not play the required role in improving the standard of living, encouraging individual initiatives and increasing employment opportunities.
