This work was conducted to study the effect of two levels (50 and 75%) of pruning on flowering (number of clusters, number of flowers, diameter of flowers, flower-stem length) of three cultivars (Emile Mouillère - Nikko Blue - Pia) of Hydrangea macrophylla. Pruning was done on the shrubs of four years old in addition to a control without pruning. Results indicated that there were differences among cultivars in response to the proportion of pruning. Emile Mouillère, a cultivar with white flowers, the results showed an increase in the proportion of pruning was associated with a reduction the number of fully developed inflorescences per plant compared to control. For Nikko Blue, a cultivar with blue flowers, the results showed that level (75%) was the best in all studied indicators while for Pia, a cultivar with deep pink flowers, the results showed that pruning with 50% level was the best in all productivity indicators.

This research was carried out on (10) years old ( Golden delicious & Starking delicious ) apple trees . which were planted in AlKafron region – Tartus Governorate under high density system . The research aims to study the effect of severity of dor mant pruning on yield of apple trees during (2012-2013) . There were the results were found : 1- There wasn't any effect of pruning treatments on total soluble solids content or total sugars . 2- Pruning treatments were better than control in fruit set in both cultivars , in Golden delicious, were ( 40.75 - 33.20 %) in severe Pruning and control, respectively , in starking delicious , were (31.35 – 26.30 %) in severe Pruning and control, respectively , and Pruning treatments were better than control in average of weight fruit in both cultivars , in Golden delicious, were (140.50-129.30) g in severe Pruning and control, respectively , in starking delicious , were (151.70-139.90) g in severe Pruning and control, respectively . 3- Pruning treatments resulted to reduce total acidity content . 4- Pruning treatments resulted to reduce yield by (14.19-19.72)% in Golden delicious and starking delicious , respectively , comparing with control .
Six durum cultivars were compared in relation to germination percentage, mean germination time, and germination “Catch up” from stress under different soil moisture contents in the labs. Both soil moisture and cultivars have shown effects on the s tudied parameters. Increasing moisture tension had caused a significant reduction in the germination percentage. The cultivars differed in their germination. Haurani 27 and Cham3 showed a higher germination potential and their germination times were shorter than the two varieties Bohouth 5 and Cham1. The varieties Lahn and Senator Capelli were intermediate among the other examined cultivars.
The study was taken place at the experimental station (kharabo), Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University, 1464 - one day old chicks of the hybrid Lohmann were used to determine the effect of adding different levels of methionine without or wit h lysine on some of carcass traits. Chicks were divided randomly and equally into 8 groups (183 each) at the first day with 3 replicates for every group (61 each).
This study was carried out at the poultry experimental station, Technical Institute of Agriculture, Damascus University, Kharbo. 270 of Japanese Quail birds, one day of age were divided equally into 3 similar groups (90each). Every group comprised of 3 replicates of 30 each, each replicates contained 10 cages. Birds were housed and managed under similar conditions throughout the experimental period which lasted from the 8 to 22 weeks of age. The birds were fed on rations recommended by NRC and contained 1, 0.65 or 2 of DLmethionine g/kg of ration in the first (the control), second and third groups respectively. Results showed that using ration contained 2g DL-methionine/ 1kg of ration gave a significant increase in egg weight, production and economical efficiency value as compared to the other used rations.
This research was carried out to study the effect of summer pruning on the growth and production of two grape varieties Vitis vivifera L. Halwani and Baladdi. The study was conducted in Kadmous during 2012 growing season on two varieties of grape tre es reared on wiredraw. Seven treatments were used: 1- control, 2- shoot thinning, 3- shoot thinning and hedging, 4- shoot thinning and axillary shoot removal, 5- shoot thinning and axillary shoot removal, 6- shoot thinning and axillary shoot removal and leaf removal, 7- shoot thinning and leaf removal. Results show that hedging improves weight of cluster and berry due to the increase in fruit set percentage which leads to an increase in grape production. Shoot thinning increases TSS yet other processes have negative effects: the hedging process increases acid titration in the Baladdi cultivar but in the Halwani cultivar hedging and axillary shoot removal increases acid titration.
