This study deals with the friction and wear behavior of coating layers (fluoride and Graphite). The coatings are thermally sprayed on cast iron disks. Sliding is performed between cylindrical pins manufactured from organic brake linings and the coated and uncoated disks. The coatings are characterized by measuring their hardness, porosity, and corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of the coating is tested by exposure to Nacl for 150 hours; the coating layer has had the best corrosion resistance. The friction and wear tests are conducted under contact pressures of (1.5 MPa to 7 MPa) and sliding speeds of 1 and 3 m/sec.
This paper provides a major challenge, Because of many bad conditions that effect oil pipelines properties, this paper discuss the ability of manufacturing and applying the 3D woven spacer composite fabric for insulating oil pipelines. This paper talks over the thermal, chemical, and mechanical properties of the final product from the 3D Spacer Fabric and the polymer resin matrix. And finally, this paper gives an idea how and with any kind of weaving machines these fabrics can be made.
The corrosion of biogas pipes and equipments damage as generators, boilers and coprocessors is one of the most real important problems in Damascus wastewater treatment plant (at Adra region). These problem caused high financial losses and costs , t hat it required studying and solving. Biogas is the result of an aerobic digestion process of sludge, it contains about 50-70% of methane as a main resource of power, where the biogas considers free when it release spontaneity. Different analysis have been occurred on the biogas to show its components, tests on the pipes material and analysis of sediment material inside the pipes that caused by biogas.
This research showed the great importance for following studies of the effect of polluted phosphoric acid, produced in General Fertilizer Company, on the high corrosion resisting alloys, to reach suitable alloys for equipments and machines used for its production, because of its high corrosion rates that create many corrosion problems in these equipments and machines.
Welded joints corrosion phenomena for some kinds of stainless steels and nickel alloy was studied in polluted phosphoric acid 37.7%H3Po4 using electrochemical techniques like Tafel polarization. Corrosion rate of base metal and weld metal had calcu lated & compared among these alloys. Laboratory Test results showed the change in both corrosion rate and corrosion current densities (Icorr) for tested alloys, and there is a clear difference between base metal and weld metal in most of tested alloys , which lead to high corrosion rates of welded joint, and change in its properties then gets out of service in some service conditions. The stainless steel 904L has low corrosion rates and low difference in corrosion rates between base metal and weld metal, so it may be the most suitable alloy, among all the studied alloys, for exploitation in polluted phosphoric acid 37.7%H3Po4 produced at the General Fertilizer Company in Homs city.
Oil and gas buried pipeline are usually protected by a thick organic coating and supported by a cathodic protection system. The protection process allows the pipe line protection against corrosion; however, corrosion is taken place in the cracks and holes of insulation coating due to pipelines adjacency to electromagnetic fields. The process is called AC corrosion affected by some parameters such as AC induced amplitude, cathodic current protection and soil type. This corrosion was theoretically and practically studied by using carbon steel pieces. In addition, a solution stimulating the soil where the pipelines are buried was used. This phenomenon was studied through several experiments. Corrosion compounds were also analyzed. The results revealed a significant effect of AC induced amplitude and soil resistance. It has been also shown that 50 Hz frequency can be very quick in comparison with corrosion occurrence time at each positive or negative AC current phase.
This research aims to study the reduction of air heaters corrosion in steam boilers and increasing their efficiency , by the application of combined heating of air by steam and exhaust gases. The experimental data of this research demonstrates tha theater corrosion could bereduced by maintaining the exhaust gases temperature above the dew point of sulfuric acid depending onthe amount of sulphur in the fuel oil ,by controlling air heat temperature by steam.Which increases the boiler efficiency as a consequence of reducing the fuel consumption by 9% as a maximum , reduces heat loss, minimizes maintenance costs and reduces the time of emergency shutdowns.
The corrosion inhibition of transmision steel in 1M HCl solution in the presence of Succinic acid at temperature (20,30,40,50,60)°C at concentration between (10-6- 10-4) M for two hours were studied using weight loss method.
We studying in this research the reaction with Zinc sulphate in an aqueous solution by physical - chemical method in presence of Succinic Acid , and determined compounds which are formed in this solution and we calculated of it formation the const ants. After we used these electrolytes in plating by Zinc , that is by electro precipitation of this metal on the solid electrodes (steel, copper) so that we definite the best of these electrolytes for galvany and the set necessary conditions for its use.
The corrosion inhibition of transmision steel in 1M HCl solution in the presence of Vanillin at temperature (20,30,40,50,60)°C at concentration between (100-500) ppm for two hours were studied using weight loss method.
