This paper aims to, in through scientific analysis mythology
supported by practical samples.
Knowing the used classification in the countries of the world,
including the distinguish between country and city, or between
rural settlements and focus
ing the classification that concerning the
planners during establishing strategies for rural regions.
This paper conclude to analyze the used classification criteria in
order to reach a planning classification that could support
classifying the Syrian villages which have mountainous nature, and
defiantly a different classification of the usual used classification.
The water resources and water availability is main source for understanding the
threshold of Urbanism resources limitation; and any imbalance in water resources specifications reflexes a
crises for cities expansion, population growth, and activitie
s variety, mostly the planner depends on
providing some general recommendations about water uses and suggesting simple strategies for
correcting the deficiency without considering the needed consideration.
That drew the research to study ers Damascus the water of in city water future which should be worried
about, throughout a review on the former urban studies and look at the related balance water studies and
the adopted future population increase scenarios, and its impacts on the expansion areas; in order to
propose a system for planning, evaluating, and allocating the limited water resources, between the
agricultural, urban, and environmental uses; whereas full integration between supply, demand, and water
quality will be achieved , throughout compact indicators, manage building a model (Model) which will be
a tool for integrated planning method of water resources; can be adopted to study the future needs of
water in the short, medium and long terms.
The research problem is the lack of urban policies which use smart cities technologies in solving urban
problems, especially transportation problems, so the research aims to develop a strategy to solve
transportation problems in Damascus using smar
t cities applications.
It starts by defining smart cities and its dimensions, then shows its basic applications, especially smart
transportation, its components, application challenges, and its role in solving transportation problems,
then it introduce similar experiments for the application of smart transportation systems, then it
concludes to a set of recommendations which contribute to solve traffic problems in Damascus through
the application of intelligent transportation strategy.
The increasing trends of urbanization and the rapid growth in the major cities, generated many problems
such as unemployment, poverty, slums, and deterioration in the level of supply of urban services. So an
urgent need arose for the establishment
of urban observatories under the Centre for Geographic
Information for the city ,hoping to achieve the best interest of the assembly, operation and analysis of data
and information in the areas of urban development and local working within the system of the Global
Urban Observatory and in the light of the Global Urban Indicators and Millennium Development Goals
for the suitability of the level of the city and harmony clearly with public strategies and the future vision
of the state as it was set in development plans and with the outline of the strategic urban planner for the
city.
The research aims to identify how to create an Urban Observatory and the achievement of its duties by
using his human, technical and development of urban and local indicators and adapt it with the character
and identity of the city and the work of the applications of statistical and spatial analyses using geographic
information systems that enable the planner and the decision maker to follow the urban development and
to identify the extent of improvement or deterioration in the economic, physical, environmental, and work
to achieve higher levels of urban development objectives.
The aim is to create rules to be followed by architects for economical
compund building designs. This aim is to be achieved by confirming
economy houses pattern within new environmental planning and joining
them to Islamic concepts, and confirming
the concept of economy in internal
Spaces, through a comparison between new houses and traditional ones.
