The research aims at investigating the reality of investment of the cultivation of citrus in Syria during 2007-2011. The study showed that the citrus market in Syria needs to be organized, and that there is a necessity for having an independent org anization such as (Citrus Growers Union) to be responsible, in cooperation with the relevant authorities, for monitoring the production and marketing of citrus. The study also showed that the specifications of full market competition apply to the citrus market in Syria, and that there is a fluctuation in the value of flexibility of supply and demand which indicates the presence of factors other than the price which affect the supply and demand. The study also showed a marketing gap which was negative, this led to flooding the market with citrus reaching (-247.4 thousand tons) in 2007. The investment in citrus achieved a positive added-value which helped support the gross domestic product (GDP) in Syria, reaching (25 billion Syrian pounds) in 2011.The citrus sector also contributed in creating a balance of payments; outflows of citrus reaching $140 million.
Investment is considered the engine to economic growth because it leads to many productive and service projects and in many other fields as well. Investment creates lots of job opportunities and offer the government and individuals financial revenues which usually come back in the economic circle through sales, this increases the absorption capacity of the national economy and expanding consumption in addition to ameliorate the living conditions for citizens. Investment has different aspects such as local private and public investment, direct and indirect foreign investment. In all cases, it is considered a fundamental venue and basic motivation for growth in any community. The research concentrates on the subject of investment and the role of private investment in the Syrian economy during the period 2006-2010. The objectives are first to explore the legislative and legal structure of private investment through analyzing the main features of the Syrian economy in early twenty 1st century and the development of this structure, which is the first part of the research. The second objective is to study the importance of private investments at the sector level and locally and abroad as well, which constitute the main theme of the second part of the research under the title “the development of the private investments in the Syrian Economy”.
The interest in the social risks means the interest in human being who is the effective element in production process in order to protect him and his family after his death The research aims to analyze the reality of work injures and pensions durin g (2005- 2010) and then to do a comparison between spendings and revenues for work injures insurance fund and old age-disability and death insurance fund in order to determine the actual fact of the two funds and the possibility of raising various compensations and improving the conditions of pensions and beneficiaries in general. After study and analysis it is reached to : - Work injures have decreased during the period of study - Pensions have increased during the period of study - Work injures fund are enough to cover its spendings in addition to have an annual surplus an all years of study - Revenues of old age-disability and death fund cover its spendings except the spendings in 2010.
This research aims to identify the reality of food security in Syria between the years 2006- 2010. The most important crops in Syria are grain crops, occupying 64.18% of the area of ​​cultivated land. Wheat is the most important grain; it had product ion growth rate of 2.24% between the years 2000- 2010. This is higher than wheat production growth rate not only in the Arab world but in the whole world. This production rate allowed Syria to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat 119.4%, potatoes 110.5%, legumes 168%, fruits 102.7, vegetables 146.9%, in addition to other products. The average per capita in Syria is 345.16 kg of grain per person which is greater than that in the Arab world by 36.17 kg. The value of food gap in Syria increased from 42.5 million dollars in 2006 to 1412.23 million dollars in 2010. This was due to the increase of grain food gap which reached 976.32 million dollars. It was still, however, within reasonable limits. The indicators of access to food in Syria were positive as the index of average individual share of local production per capita was higher than the index of food prices in 2007, 2008, and 2010. The true growth of individual share of local products per capita was positive in 2006 reaching 9.18%, but it shrank to 3.7% in 2010.
This study aimed to reveal changes in (Syrian- Turkish) relation ,though this relation is too sensitive, the study separated into two phases: -First: covers the rapprochement period between the two countries, till the year 2011. - Second: covers th e Syrian crisis period when the two countries diverged. As a result, we see that Turkish –Syrian relations kept on developing in all fields in the first phase till the strategic cooperation in 2009 between them . but when the Syrian crisis happened, turkey found that the change which might happen in Syria could bring allies of The AKP (Muslim Brotherhood ),that means retake the old Turkish strategic domain , that cause stress and regress in the relation between Turkey and Syria, Turkey has started to plan to control and intervene in internal Syrian matters, it has been started by putting economic sanctions on Syria which had abad effect on the standard of living for Syrian inhabitants, then it started to go deeper in its intervention by planning to destroy Syrian industry and stealing industrial companies and factories ,especially in Aleppo.
