Mixtures of polycarboxylic acids and their salts with sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium pyrophosphate have been investigated in the presence of ammonium oxalate and sodium carbonate. Some chemical, spectral and thermal characteristics of some humic acids (HA) extracted from: Farm manure (Fm), biogas(Bio), compost (Com), forest litters of pine (Pl) and of descendant forest (Dl), and their complexes with Camontmorillonite were s tudied by TGA and DTA analysis.
Phenolic compounds are known to be present in high concentration in various of agro industrial wastes such as olive mill wastewater. As they are highly biorecalcitrant a possible treatment by Advanced Oxidation Processes has to be investigated. T he photocatalytic degradation of the phenolic acids p-Hydroxybenzoic acid, Dihydroxybenzoic acid, gallic acid, vanillic acid, syringic acid) in the presence of TiO2 deposit on a glass plate has been reported. A comparison for the adsorption properties and the kinetics of reaction have been studied. The kinetics were found to be first order for all compounds and were compared with the compounds’ structures. The reaction rate for the compounds was found as the order Di-HBA < GA < p-HBA ≈ SA ≈ VA. The influence on the photdegradation rate of various parameters as pH, and substrate’s concentration was studied for p-Hydroxybenzoic acid only. It was found that the reaction is pH and substrate’s concentration dependence. A removal efficiency (50-70%) was determined after 5hr using UVlamp (15W- λ=360nm) and it increased up to 95% when H2O2 was added.
The experiment was performed at Agricultural Research Center in Jousiyet Al-Kharab in Al-Qsair district, Homs governorate during the 2010-2011 season to investigate the effect of planting depth and organic acids on saffron growth and productivity. Four treatments including amino acids, amino Humic, mixture of them in addition to the control were applied. Each treatment was comprised of three planting depths (10, 15 and 20 cm). Results showed that by increasing planting depth up to 20 cm a significant reduction had resulted in the percentage of rooted plants and number of shoots while there were no significant differences between the two depths 10 vs. 15 cm. The number of leaves and their length were not affected significantly with the increasing of planting depths. The number of flower, wet and dry weights of the stigmas were increased significantly with the increase of planting depth from 10 to 15 cm. The application of the humic acids had significant superiority overall the other applications in rooted plant percentage, number of shoots, number of flowers and the dry and wet weights of the stigmas, while the application of the mixture came in the second rank in number of flowers and the dry and wet weights of the stigmas. However, no significant differences were occurred between the control and application of amino acids. The highest percentage of rooted plants was observed in applying humic acids in all depths and the percentage of rooted plants reached 100%. The highest number of flowers, highest stigmas wet and dry weights were observed with the interaction between applying humic acids at 15 cm depth. The highest number of shoots and number of leaves appeared with the interaction between 20 cm depth and humic acids treatment, the longist leaves were appeared with the interaction between amino acids and 15 cm depth.
Thirteen phenotypes of cultivated wild olive were selected during 2007- 2008 from four orchards in Mesiaf region, to study oil percentage and fatty acids contents in these types for choosing types for oil production, in order to propagate and cons erve them in a germplasm, and then to be cultivated because they have adapted to local climate in this region. The results were analyzed statistically by using Gen-State program to calculate least significant differences between values. The results confirmed the high biodiversity in these studied types, and they were classified into five groups according to their oil percentage and contents of oleic acid. The oil percentage ranged from 3.9 to 27.3 %, and the fatty acids had significant differences between them, the oleic acid was in olive oil between 56.7 and 75.5%. The types P1-1 and p1-3 showed the best results for producing oil.
