Some chemical, spectral and thermal characteristics of some humic acids (HA) extracted from: Farm manure (Fm), biogas(Bio), compost (Com), forest litters of pine (Pl) and of descendant forest (Dl), and their complexes with Camontmorillonite were studied by TGA and DTA analysis.

Syria has produced cotton oil with large quantity like many other countries. This position provides an impetus to develop oleochemical industries, such as: fatty acids, fatty methylester, and fatty alkyl ester. These products can be sulfonated with SO٣ or HSO٣Cl. As a result, the obtained products have interesting properities due to their good detergency, lower sensitivity to water hardness, rapid degradability, and good skin mildness properties. Therefore, they can be used when mixed with other detergents or soaps for house hold purposes.
Five derivatives of Formazn (FM1–FM5) were prepared through reaction between benzaldehydphenylhydrazone with five diazonium salts by a reaction ratio of 1:1 in alkaline medium. The hydrazone was prepared through the reaction between phenylhydrazin e and benzaldehydeby a reaction ratio of 1:1 in a slight acidic medium. Crystals of formazans resulting from recrystalization were formed by using different solvents and show variation of solubility among these formazans according to the kind of the solvent and the kind of diazonium salt used. Their purity was studied by using thin layer chromatography. The melting point of the prepared hydrazone and the resulting Formazan complexes were complexes with lead (II), copper(II) and cadmium were successfully prepared and studied by using UV and IR spectroscopy. These complexes were used as ionophors and applied as electrically active materials in the preparation of ion-selective membranes for the mentioned metal ions.
Essential oils from peels of 6 citrus species were extracted. The species were lemon (Citrus limon), orange (C. sinensis), grapefruit (C. paradisi), pomelo (C. maxima), mandarin (C. reticulata) and bitter lemon (C. aurantium) using hydro-distillat ion (Clevenger type). In general Gram-positive bacteria were more sensitive to the oil extracts tested than Gram-negative bacteria, and P. aeruginosa was the most sensitive within the Gram-negative group.
Terebinth trees have been occupying a good part of the mount of Syrian (abed elaziz, pelass). The Pistacia atlantica fruit, rich in oil, is used by local inhabitants in many ways, few studies investigation of the P. atlantica fruit oil of Syria ha s been carried out,This study investigates the protein, ash, crude oil and oil composition of P. atlantica with respect to total phenol, iodine value and saponification value, in order to classify it among the other known edible oils thenafter compare the oil composition with the oils of other Pistacia species. The fruit of P.atlantica appears to be rich in oil. The major fatty acid in the sample studied are oleic, linoleic, our results show that. The oil has a higher content of unsaturated FA (oleic + linoleic = 72%). The oil can be classified as an oleo-linoleic vegetable oil. The biochemical data showed an elevated MUFA content (50-48%) which may constitute an important property against certain pathologies for its nutritional and preventive virtues.
Flowers of Inula viscosa (L.) plant (Inula genus , Asteraceae family), locally known as Taion, was collected from two different regions of Lattakia: the Jubt Barghal region (a mountainous area), the Qaya region (a coastal area), and the essential o il was extracted by Hydrodistillation using the Cleveger apparatus , where the weight percentage of essential oil stood at 1.26%,1.1% for both mountainous and coastal region ,respectively. The Chemical composition of essential oil obtained from flowers of Inula viscosa (L.) was analyzed by GC/MS . The essential oil of the mountainous area contained 60 components, 58 components of which were identified, that accounting for (97.98%) of total essential oil. The main component controlling was: 7-methoxy-5-ethoxy-2,2-dimethyl-2H-chromene (43.43%) The essential oil of the coastal region contained 33 components, 32 components of which were identified, that accounting for (98.31%) of total essential oil. The main components were: Linalyl propionate (19.70%), Eugenol (15.11%), n-Eicosane (9.27%).
