This research aims to convert CT data of hip bone that sufferining cancer to 3D model, and designing metal implant of the infected area on the mechanical analysis programs, to study operability and convenience in terms of distribution of stresses and forces just as in patient’s body after installation and under the guidance of the bone surgeon.By depending on Mimics software to read the CT image and 3MATIC to convert the image to 3D digital model after generation the surface and the volume of the implant, the analysis process of stresess and forces in COMSOL software. Where after design and analysis the metal implant was appropriate mechanicaly and do not contain dangerousareas after the application of the expected forces.

In this paper, the algorithm was designed for cylinders, slots and pockets extraction from CAD models saved in STL file depending on rule-based method and graph-based method. Besides, windows application was designed using Visual Studio C# which al lows the user to import CAD model and features extraction and view their geometric information (cylinder diameter, height, cylinder center coordinates, width, height, length for slots and pockets. In addition, all surfaces that the feature consists from. The proposed algorithm consists from multi-steps are: dividing input model into multi surfaces based on RegionGrowing method, next step is cylinder features extraction depending on rule-based method, slots and bockets extraction depending on graph-based method, calculating geometric information for each extracted feature. The results show that the proposed algorithm can extract cylinders, slots and pockets features from CAD models which saved in STL files and calculates geometric information for each extracted feature.
Importance and aims of the research Biomechanics science is interested in studying the dynamic function and the movement of vital tissues depending on their mechanical properties. The main objective of this research is to design a digital model of the human femur using the engineering software specialized in medical image processing and engineering design in order to simulate the mechanical behavior. This would provide important medical information to orthopedic surgeons concerning the paths and the causes of bone fractures and deformities, and open a new perspectives in prosthetics efficiency enhancement. Materials and methods A three dimensional digital model of the femur was produced using the software DeVIDE v 9.8 for medical image processing. A surface triangular mesh was constructed and the mechanical response of the model has been simulated using Ansys 14.5. Results and discussions We have shown the steps necessary to design a computerized model of femur bone on the basis of three-dimensional X-ray images. The results showed the distribution of stresses and displacements of human femur at normal load conditions. Conclusion and recommendations It is recommended to adopt the specialized engineering software for the threedimensional simulation which can be used in different medical applications.
This research presents software programs that have been designed in order to evaluate the reliability in electrical distribution networks, by calculating the reliability indices for 20 kV distribution feeders. It is the first study in this field for the distribution network in Syria. First of all, the mathematical models of reliability have been presented.
GIS software provide manual import tools to maps produced on CAD software to be transformed to geo-database. This operation consumes time and effort. The "transformation" however will not be adequate unless we analyze the relation between CAD and GI S software in preparing maps. The question raised here if this relation competitive or integrative? This research tries to answer this matter by studying it from different angles: modeling, spatial feature, scale, spatial analysis and data management. Analyses reveal that this relation isn't competitive at all, but rather integrative, as CAD software produce technical\design plans, whereas GIS software are dedicated for the production of general and thematic maps. Thus, CAD based spatial data (topographic, cadastral, master plans) could be "up-graded" to be efficient in GIS environment. However available tools to make this are basically manual, and for that, an automated approach was developed to execute this upgrade from CAD to GIS. This new approach was applied and evaluated and the output results were satisfactory accurate, time\effort saving, and indeed didn't miss any of CAD layers. This all could be achieved if being conditioned with the approach constrains.
