This study was performed in the Research Laboratory of bees at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Damascus, Samples were collected from the coastal region of Syria (Lattakia and Tartus), during the year 2009-2010, The work aimed to conduct morphological characterization of bumblebees Bombus terrestris (L.) in Syria, through some measurements to determine the distribution (of this type of bees in the Syrian) regions.

This research deels for the first time the studying fecundity of species blue crab Portunus pelagicus in our regional waters which as an introduction to breeding and culture. This research carried out in the period from September 2011 until January 2013. At the following three region of Lattakia coast : Fishing bort and picnic area, Ibn Hanni area and Southern Corniche area.Biomonthly samples were collected from Littoral and Sublittoral area of 8-18m deeps. Studies results revealed as the following: The number of mature females 240 female, Ranged: carapace length 4.6-7.9cm Carapace width between 5.2-13.8cm and body weight between 49.2-171.45 g . Spawning takes plase during the period from May until December and the rate of the highest in the month of October. Absolute fecundity in females of this species was ranged between 21435-143510 eggs, and relative fecundity was ranged between 1924-766651 eggs/g, and the eggs diameters ranged between 0.25-0.45 mm.
Similar forms of hydrological drainage basins (SHDB) are calculated using several mathematical equations. The most important and famous ones are the Elongation ratio and Circulation ratio equations. These equations are not used only to categorize the water drainage basins system according to their geomorphological likeness from being rectangle or circle, but also they are very helpful means for quantification and providing geomorphological information about the basins when it comes to provide geomorphological analysis and explanations for these basins. However, this research shows that both equations are not capable of answering all the questions about SHDB when results are cross validated by the in-situ observations. It appeared that, when performing the Elongation ratio equation on chosen hydrological drainage basins, it is useless and does not match the reality in the field as it doesn’t classify the drainage basins according to it likeness of being rectangle or circle. As for Circulation ration equation, the results were generally closer to the geomorphological reality in the field; however, it did not help in ordering the drainage basins to their circular morphological similarity. Therefore, two alternative equations were introduced to overcome these problems. The results yield better accuracy in classifying the drainage basin according to their morphological shape compared to the rectangular or the circular especially when cross validation is applied. The known methods (Horton, Sterhler and Shreef) failed in classifying the stream ordering system and to estimate the actual volume for the river net according to the stream ordering class. The proposed method enabled the classification in spite of the difficulty of coding the stream ordering system classes based on it.
The experiment was carried out at Jableh region during 2012-2013 in two green houses to study the effects of using the bumble bees and organic carbon to improve flower set and yield of tomato hybrid Dalloula . The experiment included three treatmen ts : natural pollination (control) ,flowers pollination by organic carbon, and flowers pollination by bumble bees . The first and second treatments were applied in the first green house , and the third treatment was applied in the second green house . Results showed that the bumble bees treatment produced significantly the highest percentage of flower set and yield than the other treatments . Flower set of tomato over 10 clusters was 89.8% , 83.7% , 39.2% for bumble bees treatment, organic carbon treatment, and control , respectively. The highest yield (22 kg/m2)was obtained from bumble bees treatment . Flowers pollinated by bumble bees gave fruits that looked better in shape , size and color ,and with higher weights . In the bumble bee pollinated flowers , the quality of fruits was superior for vitamin C , sugar and acidity .
This paper tests the relationship between economic growth and human development using annual data from Syria for the period 1970-2000. This period is chosen for two reasons; firstly because of its political and economic homogeneity which is conduc tive to arrive at accurate results and secondly because the significant changes in the Syrian government's policies in the fields of education and health like the opining for the first time of private universities and open learning programs and the involvement of the private sector in providing health services and health insurance.
Recent technological developments have led to a major development in the ebusiness environment, announcing the emergence of the new term “knowledge economy” as one of the most important economic nomenclatures. E-commerce which is considered as one of the most significant applications of this economy has evolved a lot in the last decade according to the evolution of its revenue in many countries around the world. E-commerce contributes to the economic development through its positive impact on a range of economic indicators such as GDP and export development. The aim of this research is to study whether there was a correlation between the development of electronic commerce and the amount of Syrian exports and imports during the period between 2000 and 2010. The results showed a good correlation between the above mentioned variables, but with no possibility to assert whether it was a causal correlation in the light of general economic conditions in Syria during that period.
