This research deels for the first time the studying fecundity of species blue crab Portunus pelagicus in our regional waters which as an introduction to breeding and culture. This research carried out in the period from September 2011 until January 2013. At the following three region of Lattakia coast : Fishing bort and picnic area, Ibn Hanni area and Southern Corniche area.Biomonthly samples were collected from Littoral and Sublittoral area of 8-18m deeps. Studies results revealed as the following: The number of mature females 240 female, Ranged: carapace length 4.6-7.9cm Carapace width between 5.2-13.8cm and body weight between 49.2-171.45 g . Spawning takes plase during the period from May until December and the rate of the highest in the month of October. This study was performed in the Research Laboratory of bees at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Damascus, Samples were collected from the coastal region of Syria (Lattakia and Tartus), during the year 2009-2010, The work aimed to conduct morphological characterization of bumblebees Bombus terrestris (L.) in Syria, through some measurements to determine the distribution (of this type of bees in the Syrian) regions.
This study dealt with the determination of hydrogen sulfide concentrations in the sediments and water of sewage points on the beach of Lattakia city - the southern Corniche region, which witnesses a clear flow of sewage water and the effect of bacter ia on the emission of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) of high toxicity to the water medium and from it to the air and seasonal changes. These emissions and the role of hydrological factors such as salinity, acidity and temperature in this process.
This study aims to define bird species that use artificial lakes in Syrian coast, and evaluate their population size for management and protection of wildlife. Four different sites were chosen in Syrian coast, which considered the most important ar tificial lakes. Point counts method was used in bird survey in November, December, January, February, March in 2011. 15 waterbird species were recorded belonging to 9 family and 6 order. Wading birds were the main component of waterbird (60% of all species) in Syrian coast. Populations size was 1 to 300 individuals. foamed concrete is a concrete made by cement slurry mixed with foaming agent, so that foamed concrete is lighter than conventional concrete. The objectives of this study is to produce this kind of concrete, and to study some of its physical and mec hanical properties. Mix design of concrete was made for four required densities (1000, 1300,1600,1900 kg/m3), cement content of 350 kg/ m3, and water to cement ratio equal to 0.5. Different tests were performed to determine some properties of product concrete such as density, compressive strength and splitting tensile strength. The results demonstrated the possibility of production foamed concrete with wide range of density and strength. The oven dry density of foamed concrete was in the range of (870-1773 kg/m3) , compressive strength was in the range of (2.95-16.2 Mpa ), and the splitting strength was in the range of (0.32-1.76Mpa).
This research was carried out during the period 08/28/2012 - 07/29/2013 in order to determine the qualitative composition of Puffer Fishes (Tetraodontidae) in the marine water of Latakia. Fish samples were collected from three stations (Borj Islam , Al madina al riyadiah and Jableh), the total of fishes were / 255 / individuals. All fish individuals were classified, preserved and placed at the High Institute of Marine Research Laboratory, some biological factors of the collected fish (K%, GSI%,HIS%) were studied. Results had revealed the presence of five species of Puffer Fish belong to three genera of Tetraodontidae: Lagocephalus sceleratus, L. spadiceus, L. suezensis, Sphoeroides pachygaster, Torquigener flavimaculosus. S. pachygaster species (migratory species from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea) has been recorded for the first time in the marine water of Syria. Results showed that L. suezensis were more coincidence species in the catch. The amounts caught of Puffer Fishes varied according to the stations; the highest was in Borj Islam. K% was almost similar in all species, while GSI% and HSI% varied according to the species and seasons.
