This study was conducted to investigate of the subclinical mastitis in dairy cows by using California Mastitis Test (CMT) and microbial cultuer of positive California Mastitis Test milk sample . 880 quarter milk samples of 220 healthy cows were te sted using () followed by bacteriological examination to identify the major causative agents of intramammary infection.
Purpose: Lacunar infarcts is an important stroke subgroup with unique clinical and pathologic features, but risk factors for lacunar infarcts have been rarely documented. To address this matter, we studied 65 patients had lacunar infarction at Depa rtment of Neurology , Tishreen University Hospital , Lattakia , Syria , and 65 controls during the period between May 2017 – May 2018 . Methods: We obtained information concerning risk factor exposure status among the patients by a structured questionnaire , we recorded age , sex , blood pressure , glucose , heart diseases , cigarette smoking , alcohol drinking , physical exercise for patiens and controls .We do laboratory tests and ECG and echocardiography and CT brain or MRI . Results: Significantly increasing the risk of lacunar stroke were hypertension (P-value=0.0001) and (OR=9.9), Current smokers (P-value=0.002) and (OR=5.2), diabetes (P-value=0.001) and (OR=5.3) , whereas frequent physical exercise was associated with a significantly decreased risk) P-value=00001( and (OR=2.6). There was no risk of lacunar stroke associated with heart disease (P-value=0.6) (OR=0.8) , high cholesterol (Pvalue= 1) and (OR=1) , alcohol drinking (P-value=0.7) and (OR=0.8). Conclusions: Patients with hypertension or diabetes, current smokers, those who have not heart disease, are at a higher risk of lacunar stroke, whereas those who undertake regular physical exercise may be at lower risk.
Fifty-one female and thirty-three male patients who suffered from UTI and attended Al-Thawra General Hospital at Ibb City in Yemen, were examined for the effects of different antibiotics on E. coli isolated from the mid-stream urine samples. The results showed a variable degree of resistance revealed by E. coli isolates. It ranged between ١٠٠٪ ((against Penicillin G and Ampicillin) and zero resistance ((against Kanamycin, Ciprofloxacin, and Gentamicin). Other tested antibiotics showed resistance ranging between ٤٠ and ٣,٣٤٪.
In the framework of this research, bacteria belonging to the genus Bacillus were isolated from some Syrian soils in the governorate of Damascus and its countryside, and the governorates of Daraa and Quneitra. Some morphological, agricultural and bioc hemical traits of the colonies were studied and the isolates producing cellulase enzyme were selected. Rhodotorula yeast was isolated from various local sources. Fifty isolates were collected during the years 2012-2013 where 13 were isolated from soil, 23 from tree leaves and 14 from food. The isolates AUX system. Were classified into three Rhodoto rula species: R. mucilaginosa, R. glutinis and R. minuta with 76%, 20% and 4% respectively using API 20c. Six methods were applied in breaking down the yeast cells and extracting the carotenoids. It was shown the quantity of carotenoides extracted with the modified method by adding DMSO to the yeast biomass and incubating for 24 hrs at 4˚C yielded in higher quantities when compared with the other five methods. All isolates were able to produce carotenoides but they varied in their efficiency where the isolate A24 (R.mucilaginosa) isolated from food was distinguished by its high level of production which reached 658.23 μg/g dry weight compared with the others.
