This invention relates to process for preventing both corrosion and the formation of scale in water- conducting systems which comprises adding a zinc carbonate and hydroxyl ethylene diphosphoric acid (HEDA) to water. The main problems arising in hydraulic engineering, e.g. when untreated water for cooling purposes are the occurrence of corrosion and the formation of scale. The corrosion of metals such as steel, copper and alloys of these metals which commonly used for water circulation tanks is mainly due to the action of oxygen, carbon dioxide ,chloride gas , chloride ions and many others ions dissolved in the water. The prevention of corrosion by forming thin film of complex HEDA and zinc ions which actions with corrosion ions while the prevention of scale by forming heat stable soluble complexes with calcium and magnesium.

This study aims to use the ash formed from the burning of firewood and the different pruning residues to remove the hardness of water Soda ash was characterized using different techniques, including XRD,flame spectroscopy , volume titration and ot hers. These methods aim to determine the composition of the ash and the components which are contributing to the removal process. The optimum mixing time was determined using certain amount of soda ash to the hard water and the water hardness was determined in the rang of time (0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5h) where the ideal time was 3 hours. The removal ratios were determined when the mixing time of the two phases was 3 h, and adding directly the following quantities of ash (0.5,1,2,3,5,7,10,15,20,25) g to 200 ml of highly hardened water. The removal rate was increased by increasing the amount of added ash. The removal rate was approximately 50% when 1 g of ash was used and the complete removal rate of 100% was achieved when the amount of ash was 25 g.
This research aims to study the reduction of air heaters corrosion in steam boilers and increasing their efficiency , by the application of combined heating of air by steam and exhaust gases. The experimental data of this research demonstrates tha theater corrosion could bereduced by maintaining the exhaust gases temperature above the dew point of sulfuric acid depending onthe amount of sulphur in the fuel oil ,by controlling air heat temperature by steam.Which increases the boiler efficiency as a consequence of reducing the fuel consumption by 9% as a maximum , reduces heat loss, minimizes maintenance costs and reduces the time of emergency shutdowns.

This research was aimed to assess the pollution from Tartous Cement Factory of some heavy metal by using of the bark of olive trees and Lichens as Bio-indicators. The olive trees was chosen as that predominant vegetation type in the study area. Bar k samples of olive trees and the lichens were collected from several villages surrounding the Cement Factory at different distances (1-2-3-4-5-6-7) km from the center of the Cement Factory in the eastern and north-eastern region of the Cement plant (where the prevailing winds in the region is western and southern Western). The results showed that the concentration of heavy elements in the bark of olive trees and lichens (ppm) take the same trend even thought there are differences in concentration between them by the overall average for all sites was as follows: iron > manganese > copper > lead. We note the high concentration of iron in bark of olive trees compared to lichens, but the rest of the elements it was statistically identical. The results also showed a significant correlation between the concentrations of manganese element in each of the bark and Lichens, and the existence of a negative correlation between the concentration of manganese and distance for both Lichens and bark. Concerning the altitude above sea level the results showed existence of significant and negative correlation with all of Iron, Manganese and Lead in Lichens.
In this paper, the seasonal variations of CO2 system and pH values in surface seawater of Banias city are shown during the period in spring 2015 and winter 2016, in addition to determine the impact of hydrological factors.
