Natural birth is a unique experience in the mother's life, but it is associated with severe pain due to uterine contractions during labor, so the control of this pain is an important requirement for them. The massage and breathing techniques during labor are considered Non-pharmacological methods that can help mothers cope with this Pain, for that reason this semi-experimental study aimed to know the effect of massage therapy and breathing techniques on severe pain in (30) women during the first stage of labor chosen by in the obstetrics and children's hospital and university Tishreen Hospital in Lattakia, where they randomly assigned to three groups: (10) were treated with massage therapy, (10) were treated with breathing techniques, and (10) were treated with massage and breathing techniques together. The researcher used tools to collect demographic data and to measure the pain intensity as determined by the women verbally, and the intensity of the pain as it appears on the face of the women. The study found a decrease in the intensity of pain in the women in the sample when applying both massage and breathing techniques on their own and when applied together during the first stage of labor. The current study recommended massage and breathing techniques during the first stage of labor to reduce labor pain, educate midwives on the importance of massage and breathing techniques in the alleviation of labor pains and train them to apply it, and to conduct research on the effectiveness of participation between the use of other methods of non-pharmacological pain relief and non-participation Among them.
Background: low –dose ketoconazole (LDK) in combination with steroids has been recognized as an effective secondary hormonal therapy in androgen-independent prostate cancer (AIPC), we hypothesized that low-dose ketoconazole would likewise possess efficacy and tolerabilitiy in the (AIPC). Methods: in a single institution (Tishreen University Hospital, Lattakia), patients with AIPC treated with LDK (at a dose of 200 mg orally 3 times daily ) as secondary hormonal therapy with concomitant steroids were retrospectively identified, After experiencing a rising prostate –specific antigen (PSA) level. Results: 21 of 50 eligible patients)42%) treated with LDK experienced PSA declines ≥ 50% after the start of treatment, while there were 12 patients with low PSA between 25- 50% with a median duration of response (5.4 months) 7 patients less than 25 % decrease, while 10 patients did not never respond. The most common complications is the fatigue and general debility in 18 patients , digestive disorders in 21 patients (Summit, nausea and diarrhea) , muscle disorders in 3 patients, and Metabolic disorders in five patients The incidence of drug toxicity grade 3-4 is very few. There were only three patients not able to continue the treatment due to severe side effects. Conclusion: low dose ketokonazole and Predenisolone is a well – tolerated, relatively inexpensive and clinically active treatment option. PSA response to low – dose ketoconazole historically comparable to that of Abiraterone in patients with AIPC.
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on orthodontic treatment time reduction throughout leveling and alignment stage. We can conclude depending on this study results that LLLT is an effective method for orthodontic archwire change acceleration and consequently for reducing the orthodontic treatment time.
The number of patients reached 15 patients, the number of females ranged was 1 patient percentage 6,6%, The number of males 14 ranges by 93.4% . Mean age of the occurrence of the injury was at the third decade. The patients of the Study had isolated common peroneal nerve injuries after Trauma. We have basted in the diagnosis of these injuries mainly on the clinical study, which followed by EMG, it showed loss of the ability of the nerve to respond to alert the electric stimulation. we hope with these situations is to maintain a relatively acceptable function, not a full return of it, Authors said that the function cannot return 100%. We have good results one year after the surgery in terms of muscle tone of the leg 67%, In addition to a good improvement in the movement of ankle joint 60%. All patients followed physical therapy in specialized Center in physical therapy after removing the plaster. The study showed that a full and regular cooperation between the surgeon therapist and a doctor of physical therapy has a big role in getting a good results.
the leg ulcer is the common disease, it distributes widely in the world. it affect both genders, and any age. it strongly related to the vascular diseases, its most complications are infection and contact dermatitis. the management of the ulcer is de pended to the etiology, and regeneration ulcer using different drugs, the surgical procedure is rarely taking place in managements ulcers. the duration of the study was february 2010 and june 2011. the percentage of leg ulcer among patients of dermatology clinic was 0.32%, and 5% of vascular surgery patients. the main age was 48 years. the most common causes of leg ulcer was chronic venous insufficiency (34%), and arterial (22%). the majority of the complications are contact dermatitis and secondary infection. therapeutic study had included drugs helping regeneration (32 ulcer), the best result was using Mebo and Silver Leaf, the percentage of healing was approximately 99% along 8 weeks.
Pneumonia kills annually about 2 millions of children aged less than 5 years to be the main cause of death at this age group. Pneumonia is treated by antibiotics, oxygen and techniques for releasing secretions as Chest Physical Therapy (CPT). For children, CPT includes essentially postural drainage, percussion and vibration. This study aimed to study effect of chest physical therapy on respiratory status among children with pneumonia.
Our study included (84) patients: 86 cases suffering from chronic osteomyelitis: various causes, location and degrees. All patients operated: after curettage of necrotic and infected tissues; system of continuous irrigation with antibiotics was in serted to the infected zone; all cases were followed up for 1 year. 86% of positive results were obtained and results were bad in 14% of cases> The high positive results (86%) confirm high effect of continuous irrigation with antibiotics as a good method for chronic osteomyelitis treatment, because this method allows delivery of suitable antibiotics in high concentration into the infected area, which is enough to kill microbes and allows to obtain best results.
Introduction: Sleep disturbance is common among patients in intensive care units (ICUs). Changes in clinical practice to promote sleep in the ICUs have been sporadic. The European Respiratory Society and the European Society of Intensive Care Medicin e recognize that massage therapy may improve quality of sleep. Goal: This study was conducted to identify the effects of back and face massage on sleep quality in ICU patients. Material and Methods: A sample of 45 patients in intensive care units in Al-Assad University Hospital and Alwatani Hospital were recruited in the study. Both the massage and control participants were evaluated for sleep quality by Groningen sleep quality scale, 1 hour after administration of the protocol. Results: The effectiveness of back and face massage, as quality of sleep, is significantly improved (p=0.000) in the experimental back and face massage groups (mean score 3.9981), and (mean score 4,4043) respectively, than in control group (mean score – 0.8117). In conclusion, our data suggest that back and face massage therapy is effective in improving the quality of sleep in ICU patients
The Study is directed to reveal how effective the behavioral-cognitive therapy in reducing the symptoms of obsession through a program applied on individuals with compulsive behavior and/or obsessive thinking involved in the study. The study uses co gnitive therapy techniques and the (intense) exposure and response prevention technique (ERP) that has proved to be efficient in many researches and clinical studies so as to know whether the statistically significant. Differences between the averages of the means of the sample to be studied on a scale for measuring the obsession symptoms before and after applying the therapeutically program on the individuals involved in the sample are attributed to the effect of the program designed. In this study, the sample involves individuals with obsessive compulsive disorder according to Yale Brown Scale, and it includes 12 patients (3) males and (9) females aging (20-25) who were supervised by psychiatrists. The researcher uses the one-group system; i.e., premeasurement – therapy or intervention – post-measurement.
