The main objective of this research is to evaluate the readiness of private and public universities to achieve the European accreditation. This is done through: highlighting the importance of accreditation to Syrian universities and their ability to
achieve it, identifying their strengths and weaknesses in meeting the European accreditation criteria, and comparing the main difeerences between private and public universities with regard to accreditation.
