Gene regulation by microRNAs (miRNAs) is one of the most important regulatory
networks which control normal hematopoiesis. Disturbances in miRNAs levels lead to
proliferation diseases including leukemogenesis. MicroRNAs is a major topic of many
ca
ncer researches performed to discover noninvasive biomarkers used for diagnosis,
prognosis, and optimization of clinical decision.
This study, the first to be performed in Syria, aimed at monitoring miR-155 levels
compared to a normalizer gene RNU6-2 by quantitative reverse transcriptase -PCR (qRTPCR)
in a sample of newly diagnosed untreated AML patients at several hospitals in
Damascus in comparison with healthy controls. Changes in miR-155 gene expression
levels were calculated in patients and controls using the 2-ΔCt method.
The most important finding was the association of low and very high miR-155 levels
with poor prognosis reflected in failure to accomplish complete remission and high
mortality. In addition, high miR-155 levels were associated with M4 AML subtype,
although with large variance among patients. We hope our preliminary study pave the road
for many future research studies related to the applicability of microRNAs in supporting
diagnosis, predicting prognosis, and enhancing the personalized therapies which deal with
patients as individual cases.
This study was conducted in the laboratories of the Faculty of Science In the spring
on 2013, after being subjected to gavage for 4 weeks through a standard diet supplemented
fat by 3% to two groups (6animales per group) the experimental group beca
me aqueous
extract 150 mg/kg Body weight for 4weeks while the control group became standard food
and tap water ad libitum.
The Blood samples were collected each week, and then the serum samples were
taken to the biochemical tests to determine total cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose
levels in biochemistry laboratory of the Institute of Intermediate medical in Tishreen
University.
There are a lot of studies with conflicting results about the correlation between blood
levels of vitamin D and lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDLc, HDLc) and the effect of
treatment with vitamin D supplements on it. This study aimed to investig
ate the effect of
vitamin D and calcium supplements on lipid profile.
This study included 59 volunteers who received these supplements for prevention of
osteoporosis as a prescription from orthopedic doctors between 11/2016 to 1/2018. The
average of age was 49±8 years. The plasma values of TC, LDLc, HDLc were measured
using enzymatic colorimetric method ( Biosystems kits ) in Tishreen hospital before
treatment and after two months. The results were analyzed by T-Student test, and P value
<0.05 was considered significant. The mean plasma levels of LDLc before treatment were
(100.983 ±28.36) mg/dl, and after two months of treatment were (102.249±27.478) mg/dl,
and the difference was not significant. The mean plasma levels of HDLc before treatment
were (68.056 ±14.369) mg/dl and after two months of treatment were (62.715 ± 14.39)
mg/dl, and the difference was significant. We advise to measure plasma lipid levels during
treatment with these supplements depending on the changes that observed in this study.
In research we studied the effect of vitamin C on the level of total
cholesterol ،triglycerides ، (HDL) and (LDL) in the stressful
rabbits blood by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) . We used 30 rabbits
were divided into three groups:First groupnot stresse

group) ، Second group (Group stressed by H2O2) left without
treatment until the end of the experimental period ، third group
(Group stressful by hydrogen peroxide) was given orally vitamin C
solution at a rate of 100 mg / kg of body weight per a day for five
weeks.
In contrast to adaptive immunity and to certain components of innate immunity, only little is known on the influence of the complement system on cancer suppression and promotion . The lectin pathway of complement activation is an important part of in
nate immunity. It is mainly involved in opsonisation and lysis of pathogens and in recruitment of inflammatory cells.
Our study aimed to assess the relationship between MASP-2 serum levels before and after chemotherapy in Syrian children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, aiming to find a relation, which serve in early forecast of patients response to chemotherapy, where the study has been done at Children University Hospital in damascus between 2013-2014. This study included 37 children diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The levels of Mannose-Binding Lectin-associated Serine Protease-2 (MASP-2) were determined by Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA).
The result was that serum levels of MASP-2 was strongly reduced after chemotherapy in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and a strong correlation between serum marker levels before and after chemotherapy was found.
