This research aims to test the reliability of the financial failure prediction models most commonly used in determining the financial position of the insurance companies listed on the Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE). To achieve the objectives of the research has been applied models of both Altman, Sherrod and Kida insurance companies listed on the DSE, where the study included the entire research community, consisting of six insurance companies Were subjected to the results obtained through the application of the three models to the data to insurance companies studied non parametric tests in order to ascertain whether the discrepancy results of these models are essential or not. The results of the application of models (Sherrod, Altman and Kida) on data insurance companies studied showed a clear contrast between a typical Altman and Sherrod on the one hand and Kida model on the other hand, the nonparametric statistical tests showed that the differences between the three models is significant variation spirits. The research concluded that it cannot rely on these models to determine the financial position of insurance companies studied.
The objective of this research is primarily to indicate the role of the segmentdisclosure instrengthen the relevance of financial reports, through the statement of the role of the segmentinformation in enhance the ability to predict the market pric e of the shares, and the stockshare of future operating cash flows. To achieve this, the search is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical, the first part, is about the concept of segment disclosure and the nature of the information provided about the facility and ways to divide the property into segments, and indicate theconcept ofrelevance financial reports, and the characteristics that make the financial reports, relevance to the needs of users, and then show the importance informational content segment disclosure in promoting therelevanceof financial reports.
This study aims to detect the existence and the extend of using the income smoothing practice by the public joint stock companies listed in Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE). The Study also aims to find out and examine the relationship between in come smoothing practice and earnings per share (EPS). To achieve the above objectives, the study examined the hypotheses and the said relationships through the data of 18 public companies listed in Damascus Securities Exchange (DSE). And this test conducted through the period from 2010 to 2014.
This research aims to shed light on the impact of corporate governance on the performance of listed companies in Damascus Securities Exchange (2012-2016). To achieve this objective, the researcher used a hypothetical-deductive approach to formulate the hypotheses; and analyzed the financial statements of all shareholding Syrians listed companies. Results indicate that, despite of the variation in applying corporate governance between listed companies, there is a sufficient level of commitment to the principles of corporate governance. As well as, the results showed that all performance indicators effected by corporate governance principles. The results of this study provides an empirical evidence to policy makers and regulators in Syria to emphasize the importance of the continuation of Syrian companies to abide by the applying of the principles of corporate governance; as well as the need to find a unified measure corporate governance can be applied in Syria; and at the same time the need to educate the public concerning corporate governance.
Because of the emergence of variable technological developments as a new variable in many of the cognitive aspects such as accounting, this research comes as an attempt to examine the relationship between the quality and approach of information pre sentation that disclosed electronically by shareholding companies listed in the Damascus Securities Exchange, and those factors that are likely to affect the level of this disclosure and approach. The research found that the improvement in the level of this disclosure on the Internet is getting more profits and increased indebtedness and depending on the nature of those companies. While this disclosure is not affected by capital size and the age of those companies.
