The study included 77 patients admitted to Pediatric Department in AL-ASSAD University Hospital in Lattakia for doing therapeutic gastroendoscopy between ( Jul 2009-Jul 2014),number of procedures were (195) with age ranging between( 1mon-16 y) and The main indication of interventional GI endoscopy in this series was foreign body extractions, oesophageal stenosis, esophageal varices ligation followed by polyp resection and Management of rectal prolapse refractory. -There were" not any complications during therapeutic procedures (94%), and complet cure percent was high (64,4%), but (26%) of cases are followed up and good until now, there were Two patients of oesophageal dilatation may need surgical interference.
Appendectomy is one most common procedure in emergency cases . laparoscopic surgery has many features and development which lead courageously to appendectomy by laparoscopic procedure. This study was conducted on 60 patients who underwent laparosc opic appendectomy at Al-Assad university hospital between 2014-2016. The average age of patients was 38 years – the proportion of meals was 58,3 % and females was 61,4 %. The mean surgical operation time was 105 minutes . Normal appendectomy proportion was 13,3 % . Acute appendectomy without perforation was 75 % . The proportion for gangrenous appendectomy with perforation was 11,6 % , The proportion for conversions to open surgery was 16,6 % . Post operation complications were as follows : wound infection : 6,66 % - intra abdominal abscess :5 % - Bowel obstruction :1,66 % . Analysis of the results revealed that the rates are within the internationally accepted rates . We concluded that this surgery is safe and has many features and a little complications . We recommend applying this surgery in our hospitals .
Introduction: As nursing develop with regard to science, knowledge & practice and nursing responsibilities increase, critical thinking- the ability to question and make rational decisions- becomes even more important. Whereas, critical thinking requi res that all thoughts and actions be examined objectively, in patient care almost all actions require decision making, and problem solving. Critical thinking is an essential element in decision making which involves choices, and problem solving which requires analysis. Through critical thinking skills, a nurse manager can become a transformational leader. She can challenge the routine nursing practices now, develop a more robust understanding of any problem underlying causes, and develop her leadership skills as well as develop more creative solutions when using critical thinking. Although, critical thinking skills are more important but there were few studies both English and Arabic and there was no study in Syria concerned with critical thinking skills that must used by nurse mangers to do their role effectively, for that this study was conducted and aimed to assess critical thinking skills of nurse managers in Al- Assad university hospital and Al- Wattany hospital in Lattakia. The study was conducted in Al- Assad university and Al- Wattany hospitals in Lattakia. Whereas, The study sample consisted of 21 nurse managers , and 80 nurses from both hospitals. The results of this study showed that there were positive convergence between nurses 'viewpoints and nurse managers ' viewpoints in both hospitals and that nurse managers used critical thinking skills in their practice.
This study aimed to identify the professional psychological pressures on a sample of nurses who are working in Al-assad University Hospital according to the variables (gender, marital status).The sample consistes of (120) nurses of various department s in the hospital. The researcher has done a questionair of the pressure professional psychological, the study concluded to the following results: -About (64.59) of the nurses have shown high levels of psychological stress. What comes first to the surface is the financial issues, then comes the work environment dimension and the psychological dimension. -The study showed that there were statistical significant differencesin favor of femalescocerningthe psychological dimension, and towardmales inthe dimension of the relationship with doctors as we the financialdimension. -The study showed that there were statistical significant differencesconcerning professional psychological pressures. These differences were related to the psychological dimension and in favor of unmarried people only.
This study was conducted to assess the nutritional status of auditors children to Al Assad University Hospital by using the classification of Waterlow and body mass index. The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence of acute and chronic ma lnutrition, obesity,and associated factors, in addition to study the relationship between the classification of Waterlow and body mass index in the evaluation of the nutritional status .The study included 830 children who ranged in age from 6 months to five years. The prevalence of acute malnutrition was 16.62%, chronic malnutrition 35.42% , obesity 12.28% , weight gain 10.72% . We noticed that the acute and chronic malnutrition were more prevalent in the domain age (1-2) year. Malnutrition has been associated with a variety of factors(mother's age and the degree of her education , father's age and his level of education, living in the city, displacement ,poverty , and increasing in the number of family members (more than 5).
