This study was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Damascus University, during two seasons (2002-2003) to assess the effect of irrigation methods (drip, sprinkler, furrow) of maize (Gota 82). The results showed significant differences between irrigation methods in grain and green weight production (average of two seasons, for grain: 6.48 t/ha,6.065 t/ha, and 7.905 t/ha for drip, sprinkler and furrow irrigation respectively, and for green weight 24.4t/ha, 22.04t/ha, and 25.75t/ha for drip, sprinkler and furrow irrigation respectively).Concerning total water requirement, drip irrigation method was the lowest one (average of two seasons, 4392.87m3/ha) followed by sprinkler irrigation (5565m3/ha) compared with furrow irrigation (9011.92m3/ha).

The experiment carried out to improve the efficiency of drip irrigation system , based on soil moisture. The indirect measure of humidity Was used in the experiment, connected with the pointing device (separator continued), and a control device pr ogrammed on a low humidity degree, which is degree the field capacity of the soil and which value is 25%, and on a high moisture degree which is saturation degree at 75%..
This study was carried out on a 17 years Vineyard (Helwani, Betamooni. Cvs) when the study started. Two deficit irrigation treatments were studied (%88, 60%), in addition to the control (full irrigation), and each treatment included three replicati ons. Drip irrigation technique was applied (one irrigation line for each tree line, and eight drippers for each tree). Fruit yield and sugar percentage were observed under different water treatments.
Using modern irrigation started as individual initiatives, then the government supported the introduction of these techniques through the national programme for transferring to modern irrigation that started late 2000. This programme set up to conv ert all irrigated area, where possible, from traditional methods to modern irrigation systems during 10 years period. The government has issued several decisions for facilitating transfer process and ironing out the financial and administrative constraints facing the implementation of this programme.
The experiments were carried out at Deir Ezzor research Center , Salou Research Station during the growing season 2008 and 2009 . The cotton variety Deir Ezzor 22 was grown and the soil was treated, one day before cultivation date.
Principally the main bases for comparison are to compare the field losses with the net water requirement in addition to that a comparison should be carried out between the most important financial indicators i. e. the used capital and the investmen t capital. Comparing field losses to the net water requirement, it appears that drip irrigation methods come first then comes sprinkler irrigation and after surface irrigation (furrow irrigation), but from comparing the basic cost to financial investment, it appears that sprinkler irrigation precedes drip irrigation followed by surface irrigation (furrow irrigation). If we take into consideration the crop composition in the region where wheat crop, according to the crop rotation reaches 56.24% and which is impossible to irrigate by the drip method, in addition to the necessity of forming a washing stream of water opposing the rising water stream by capillarity caused by the proximity of saline underground water, we found out that irrigation by sprinkling is the optimum method for this region.
