Objectives: to analyse the incidence of facial nerve dysfunction following parotidectomy and to correlate this with the extent of parotid gland resection, and the pathological diagnosis. Between 2010 – 2014, 35 patients underwent 35 parotidectomies performed by the same surgeon. Results: the incidence of initial postoperative facial weakness was 37,14%, based on the diagnosis and extent of surgery, rates of facial weakness were 23,1%, 30,8% and 46,1% for superficial parotidectomy, total parotidectomy and total parotidectomy associated with a neck dissection respectively. Permanent weakness occurred in 7,7% of patients, recovery of normal facial movements occurred within 6 months in all patients with initial temporary facial weakness.

Parotidectomy is a common surgical procedure associated with some complications as well as facial asymmetry.Frey syndrome is a common complication after protidectomy and characterized by a sweating and a flushing and/or an erythema of the cheek ar ea during mastication leading to very disturbing to the patient. Autologous fat transfer is an easy technique, widely used in cosmetic surgery to reconstruct the defect caused after various excisional surgeries as well as preventing or treatment frey syndrome. The aim of this study is to assist the results of autologous fat transfer to parotid area (after parotidectomy) in treatment frey syndrome in addition to improving the aesthetic aspects.
The number of patients reached 15 patients, the number of females ranged was 1 patient percentage 6,6%, The number of males 14 ranges by 93.4% . Mean age of the occurrence of the injury was at the third decade. The patients of the Study had isolated common peroneal nerve injuries after Trauma. We have basted in the diagnosis of these injuries mainly on the clinical study, which followed by EMG, it showed loss of the ability of the nerve to respond to alert the electric stimulation. we hope with these situations is to maintain a relatively acceptable function, not a full return of it, Authors said that the function cannot return 100%. We have good results one year after the surgery in terms of muscle tone of the leg 67%, In addition to a good improvement in the movement of ankle joint 60%. All patients followed physical therapy in specialized Center in physical therapy after removing the plaster. The study showed that a full and regular cooperation between the surgeon therapist and a doctor of physical therapy has a big role in getting a good results.
Aim: To evaluate and compare the rate of cholesteatoma recurrence after Atticotomy surgery to that after Canal Wall Up Mastoidectomy (CWU). Material and Methods: The study involved 57 patients admitted to the ENT Department Almoassat Hospital. A tticotomy was performed in 30 cases, whilst CWU mastoidectomy within 27 cases. Follow up period was extended for two years to compare the symptoms and the necessity for second Ossiculoplasty surgery. Results: The recurrence rate was 23.33 % within atticotomy group, whilst it was 22.21 % in CWU group. CWU mastoidectomy showed better outputs in diffused cholesteatoma cases. Conclusion: A limited cystic cholesteatoma can be treated effectively by atticotomy, however CWU mastoidectomy remains the favorable technique to manage a diffused cholesteatoma.
This is s retrospective analytic study of 27 cases of esophagojejunal anastomotic leakage after gastrectomy for gastric cancer during the period 1\1\1997 -1\1\2014 at AL Assad University Hospital, Lattakia, Syria. The most common risk factors of lea kage were: factors related to the patient: (age, sex, hemoglobin level, total protein level, and albumin level); factors related to surgical resection: (combined resection of other organs, mechanical and manual esophago-jejunostomy) and factors related to the tumor: (tumor stage, tumor location, and ends of anastomosis free of tumor)
20 Syrian adult patients from both sexes underwent study at Al-Mouassat Hospital diagnosed with primary gastric E1 MALT lymphoma, Associated with H.P. and treated only with H.P. eradication. This treatment led to H.P. eradication in all patients ( 100%), and complete regression of 85% of Lymphoma. Relapse did not appear during follow up period which exceeded 5 years in all patients, 15% cured after chemotherapy without surgery nor radiotherapy.
