Aim: To evaluate and compare the rate of cholesteatoma recurrence after Atticotomy surgery to that after Canal Wall Up Mastoidectomy (CWU). Material and Methods: The study involved 57 patients admitted to the ENT Department Almoassat Hospital. Atticotomy was performed in 30 cases, whilst CWU mastoidectomy within 27 cases. Follow up period was extended for two years to compare the symptoms and the necessity for second Ossiculoplasty surgery. Results: The recurrence rate was 23.33 % within atticotomy group, whilst it was 22.21 % in CWU group. CWU mastoidectomy showed better outputs in diffused cholesteatoma cases. Conclusion: A limited cystic cholesteatoma can be treated effectively by atticotomy, however CWU mastoidectomy remains the favorable technique to manage a diffused cholesteatoma.

The primary goal of any surgery for cholesteatoma is complete eradication of this lesion aiming to reach a dry ear and to prevent the complications and recurrence. The second goal is to preserve hearing or to improve it. This study aims to discuss cases of Cholesteatoma treated by canal wall-up mastoidectomy (Closed technique) and to determine the efficacy of this technique by studying the recurrence rates and hearing results.
The necessity of Meatoplasty In Radical Mastoidectomy for good postoperative cleaning of mastoid cavity and to reduce recurrence rate. This study aim to evaluate the results of Meatoplasty By Rotating door flap method In Radical or modified radical Mastoidectomy (open technique).
Objectives: to analyse the incidence of facial nerve dysfunction following parotidectomy and to correlate this with the extent of parotid gland resection, and the pathological diagnosis. Between 2010 – 2014, 35 patients underwent 35 parotidectomie s performed by the same surgeon. Results: the incidence of initial postoperative facial weakness was 37,14%, based on the diagnosis and extent of surgery, rates of facial weakness were 23,1%, 30,8% and 46,1% for superficial parotidectomy, total parotidectomy and total parotidectomy associated with a neck dissection respectively. Permanent weakness occurred in 7,7% of patients, recovery of normal facial movements occurred within 6 months in all patients with initial temporary facial weakness.
Objective : to analyze the level (site) of ipsilateral neck recurrences after supraomohyoid neck dissection in patients with lip, oral and oropharyngeal cancer treated in a single institution. Between 2010 – 2013, 38 patients underwent 38 supraomo hyoid neck dissection. Results: there were 5 cases (13%) of ipsilateral neck recurrences, 2 were beyond the limits of the supraomohyoid neck dissection, and 3 were inside these limits. There was no association of neck recurrences with pathological status of lymph nodes. 4 of the 5 recurrences were in patients who underwent postoperative radiotherapy.
The objective of this study was to compare the effect of using intravaginal sponges with intramuscular (IM) injection of prostaglandin hormone within the reproductive season and their effect on Lambing rate and birth rate in Awassi ewes. Thirty ewes were equally divided into two groups (G1 and G2). Intravaginal sponges impregnated with 60 mg of Medroxy Progesterone Acetate (MAP) were inserted into the ewes of the first group for 14 days, and were injected at the time of the withdrawal of sponges with 500 IU of equine Chorionic Gonadotrophin (eCG) at the first group ewes (G1). The ewes in second group (G2) were injected with double dose of 125 μg of prostaglandin (PGF2α) intramuscularly (IM) at 9 days apart. The ewes were naturally mated with fertile rams (ram / 5 ewes). The results showed that there were significant differences between groups (G1 and G2) in the Lambing rate (93.33% vs. 73.33%). The ewes of group (G1) outperformed the ewes of group (G2) in the percentage of twin births (42.86% vs. 18.18%), and the birth rate (1.43 vs. 1.18) with significant differences (P<0.05). We conclude from the study that treating ewes by using intravaginal sponges with eCG injection was better than the method of prostaglandin injection in raising the Lambing rate and birth rate in Syrian Awassi ewes, within the local Syrian conditions
